Sorry it has taken me a bit to get back to ya MK, but I was very appreciative of the effort and thought you put into your cover of "Say Yes"...

I very much enjoyed your recording and arrangement. Thank you very much for making a very enjoyable GOM for me! 8)

Seeing as there has been no movement on this thread in a few days. We might as well bring this GoM to a close. There's supposed to be a vote for favorite GOM song. Can people just post their fave here in the thread and we can make our final decision in that regard.

And my sincerest apologies to all those who didn't get songs this year.

(Just tying up loose ends...it is almost time to start another SF Sidefight. A very German sounding one...)

Final results:

STIFFERS/STIFFEES:
15-16 Puzzle

STIFFERS:
Bjam
JB
Wormsweater
TVIYH

STIFFEES:
Rabid Garfunkel
Ken
Glenn Case
Hell Yeahs (received supplementary song)

I don't mean to label anyone too harshly. I just wanted an excuse to repeatedly write the word "stiffee." Huh huh huh. Stiffee.

Picking a favorite out of this field was very tough. My vote goes to Calfborg, slight edge over WreckdoM.

My vote goes to the Rinky Dinks. I've never heard the original, but that was just gorgeous.

Close runners up were Calfborg (I'm really liking that more an more every time I hear it)

Other favourites were Eddie Bangs (another song I've never heard before, so youre is the definitive version for me), Jim of Seattle (I'm guessing you were a bit out of your comfort zone there, but it sounds completely convincing), and Me & Paco del Stinko (I love how that came out - & Paco's guitar really gives it a lift)

Torn between rinkydinks & wreckdom. They both make me happy in very creepy-sweet ways. So I guess half-a-vote to each, as I can't make up my mind.

I suspect all will be forgiven, Roymond. I mean, you picked the _ing Devo track, heh.

I haven't listened to EVERYTHING, but I love Calfborg and WreckdoM. I also love our secondary, later gift to Jim and Niveous' gift to me, but I figure the GOM makes it even more difficult to be objective about entries that are related to me because they just make me feel all mushy inside.

Haha, you drew my name again! In fact, the very first post I ever made to this forum was to give you kudos for your Primus cover two years ago.

This is a stellar cover. Thank you! It's sounds like you couldn't decide between the Devo song or the Stan Ridgway song, so you did Devo in the style of Ridgway. Sweet!

You are now purged from the list of Stiffers. I hold your oath fulfilled. Go, be at peace.

Bloody hell Niv, give it a rest will ya? Some of us have been waiting patiently for a quiet period so that we can put forward our own sidefight ideas. I seem to remember a thread around here where people were queueing up for a chance at a sidefight. And that's not even going into the question of whether there should be a sidefight treadmill going on all the time or whether it's better for it to be an occasional thing, anyway.

I mean, I don't want to rant (yeah, too late), but it feels to me like you've almost elected yourself to the post of sidefight-deepthroat. I say nay.

Thanks Obscurity for the constructive criticism.

Some quick things in reply-
1- People have been asking me when the next Nur Ein is. So, that's not me running amok. I'm more than happy to sit back on the Nur Ein for a while.

2- Who's stopping other people from starting Sidefights. Not me.

3- You act like I run a lot of sidefights. I do GoM for the holidays and I did the Nur Ein a year ago.

If you wanna run a sidefight, go ahead. I'm not stopping you.

after careful consideration, my vote has to go to Caravan Ray and his catchy, hypnotic tune. The gatling gun like "buddabuddabudda" of Ray just has me hooked. Hooked bad.

Secondary vote goes to Rinky Dink. Because I lurv Rinky Dink.

I'm off to work in a minute so I don't have long, but I want to quickly respond to this point:
Niveous wrote:3- You act like I run a lot of sidefights. I do GoM for the holidays and I did the Nur Ein a year ago.
Then I apologise. I had somehow got it into my head that you'd been doing a lot more than that. I think I may have been conflating your sidefights with your cover projects. I didn't intend to portray you in a false light, so sorry about that.

I'll respond to your other points when I have more time, in t'other thread.

Hey All,

I really wanted to include a new collab on my cover, so I asked Steve Durand to play horns. Here is a new mix:

TVIYH had a death in the family, so I think he gets a pass right now. (If anyone thinks otherwise, screw you.)
Two deaths, in fact. Lost two grandparents within a month and a half.

I make no excuse for all the time that has passed since then, however.
This unfinished song has been weighing heavily on my conscience ever since.
I am fully committed to making sure there is an extra gift under the tree (no later than) this Christmas.
