Bill - Yes, it is exactly a Heroes reference! "don't go get the Haitian, I'd like to keep my mind"
BLT - Thanks! It's nice having a person behind the mixer and having good headphone monitoring. I can sing so much better when I can hear myself!

Sounds cool. You guys have really nailed that style. All the songs are pretty catchy, too. I love the chorus of "The Well" and "Sleep Tight".ujnhunter wrote:Hey guys, I figured I'd drop a little note here about our recently finished 6 track EP (Photovoltaik) which is a collection of remixed/remastered/rerecorded versions of our previous Song Fight! & Nur Ein IV songs (some of which we've retitled)! Enjoy!

2. The Factory 02:32
3. Persuasion 02:24

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)
I made it a couple of steps closer to completing some of those FAWM songs tonight. "Get Up" and "Unbearable" both have brand-new drum and bass tracks, and I've mixed them a little better, so they both sound much tighter than before.
Get Up - http://www.jon-eric.com/Songs/FAWM2011/ ... %20mix.mp3
Unbearable - http://www.jon-eric.com/Songs/FAWM2011/ ... %20mix.mp3
I also added a bassline to "Genetic Lottery." I debated drums, but I actually think it might be better off without them. http://jon-eric.com/Songs/FAWM2011/Gene ... %20mix.mp3
I also added drums and bass to "Grown Up Geek," but in so doing, I seem to have completely flattened the handclaps and backup vocals, so I'm not reposting that one until I fix the errors.

I've finished updating "Grown Up Geek" as well now.

I don't know if it's completely done, but now it's a heckuvalot closer than it was when February ended.

Been awhile since I've been on here. Wish I had more time to participate in all the fights! After a few months delay, I was able to complete "Disco Tony", Here is a link...

Another song written titled "Don't Leave" on the channel as well. In the process of writing "Bag Of Bones", but I'm not holding my breath for that one either... Thanks for listening!

Some things recorded the past few months under a self-imposed regime of writing (except for when it's a cover), recording, and mixing the whole song in one sitting. Much like my "Isle Dauphine" entry.

Cool Niv, I remember hearing that on Sunday night at SF!L 2011.
R. Mosquito and I just finished up a couple tracks over at http://photovoltaik.bandcamp.com "Zoetrope" which started life as a possible entry for "Future On The Road" and a Legendary Pink Dots cover song of "I Love You In Your Tragic Beauty" as the B-side. Hope you like them.

Re: hey listen to my new song (thread)
Double post? Not really... I just like to share.
Big thanks to Manhattan Glutton and King Arthur, too for their help with this one.
This was a special challenge all over the place. My wife wanted me to right a "happy" song - that is, upbeat, fast tempo without being angry - but not necessarily like "Hakuna Matata." I can't right _cheerful_ songs. Like rap; can't do that, either. And neither am I particularly interested.
ANYWHO... the writing and recording process for this was just onerous: various tweaks and modifications happened the whole time. Which is unusual for me, since typically I have a song pretty much down and done before the recording process even begins. But this one... hoo boy. The bass was off, which through the vocals and the chorus wasn't gelling and the back vox were a mess and it just... ended. Frustration central.
So, now I am much happier; I had to chop off the first chorus, but now the whole thing COHERES. And just in time for my 10th anniversary next week.
