Yesterday I put up a quickie cover of "The Wild Kindness" by the Silver Jews in honor of David Berman's passing.

Even though I don't know the original song... I really liked that track, owl... sounds great.

I listened to both the original and your cover and I liked them both. Your voice suits this song very well.

I have a new album! I had copies at Song Fight Live a couple weeks ago and now it's online too, for pay-what-you-want download:

https://micahsommer.bandcamp.com/album/you-like-me

It's got five Song Fight songs, four SpinTunes songs, and five songs I wrote all by myself.

A couple months ago I composed a children's song for JB and Dorie (and Hugo, of course), called Wiener Dog on a Motorcycle.

It was pretty well-received so I decided to release it as a single.

Here it is on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/0I7EXPLCTFt2Nl5tgENLI6
and on Bandcamp: https://sockpuppet.bandcamp.com/track/w ... motorcycle

and it's on a bunch of other places too

Anyway, if you have kids or know someone with kids, please let them know about this song. Hopefully it'll replace Baby Shark.

"Revolution at Nine", a cover of the Beatles Revolution #9 for solo piano. I'm channeling Fats Waller and Art Tatum, for anyone who knows who they are.

I know, you're thinking "How is this a cover of Revolution #9? I don't hear it in there". Here is a recording that shows you how I used the Beatles song in my piece.

Fine piano playing, and an entertaining project, but I wouldn't call it a cover of Revolution 9. I'd call it "Ragtime Toccata, Inspired by the Famous Beatles' Revolution 9, Synchronized to Its Evolution in Time and Featuring Many Ingenious References, while Bearing a Curious Resemblance to the Beatles' Honey Pie from the Famous White Album, Performed by the Renowned Jim of Seattle for the Benefit of Song Fight."

I posted my 13th annual cover version of Cry Me A River by Justin Timberlake yesterday.

I think it's a good one.

interesting project covering the same song every year, the instrumentation on your newest cover reminds me of "Dancing On My Own" by Robyn which is one of my favorites

I'm glad you picked up on that, that was my intention for this year's version! It is a weird project. But I'm still enjoying it so I'll keep doing it until I run out of ideas, I guess!

I recorded a cover of Tim Buckley's "Song to the Siren" this weekend for no particular reason other than I've been obsessed with the song lately.

It uses the sustainer on my new guitar :D (with a bunch of effects though, not straight out of the box! The acoustics are a real acoustic.)

I suck at self-promotion but since I'm here I might as well mention that my band Lucky Witch and the Righteous Ghost just released our second album: New Ways To Make Mistakes. But I'm friends with a lot of you on the book of face so you probably already knew that. If you didn't, hey wanna hear shoegazy grunge rock with weird synths and strange tales of broken hearts and Lovecraftian horror?

That was fun, I used to blast the original all the time years ago. Interesting hearing the vocals done without the sleepy blur of Thom Yorke! I liked the bass chugs.
