That Anti-M song is swank. It makes the original sound like a cover that Fallout Boy recorded after hearing her song.

I must apologize to my giftee, it's going to be late, i stayed up WAY TOO late trying to get it done, and I think you'll appreciate the extra time. I'm just such a terrible singer I need several takes to get things better than horrible. I'm digging the guitar and bass I have though. With the NYC show coming up I might very well be 2 weeks late at worst. I'll try my best to get it done this weekend.

Glenn, you've always taken good care of us and you always come through! I'm glad you are our gifter.... it's so f'n awesome to actually have a gifter. It totally makes sense for it to be you. Thank you so much for the awesome cover of 'Take on Me'. I love the high notes, you hit them better than I could, that's for sure. I love it! The slower tempo really adds a whole new twist to an iconic 80's tune. Thanks for making this the best GOM so far!

Yay! That really is the best part of the Gift of Music! I'm so glad you like the songs, Chris. I know they're pretty much straight forward covers, and that's sometimes frowned upon here, but it sure was fun to do. I had a blast doing my best Mike Ness. Maybe you were at an SD show that I was at somewhere sometime... weird. Enjoy BLT!!

Hey, Eddie, I think last year's page is a little short. I do note that at least my Talking Heads cover is missing, but I suspect there should be more songs there.

Just listening to a couple of the covers now... Glenn's is great, so far.

at least glenn did an admirable job covering for the hell yeahs, although it had to induce some serious testicle pain hitting those high notes.

haven't listened to everything but certainly digging your tune johnny cashpoint.

*for the non-deadhead crowd, typically the dead would play scarlet begonias and go straight into "fire on the mountain", and then sometimes come back to the scarlet riff to wrap it all up. although on occasion, they may also go into a half hour drums/space jam too like jim mentioned.

Thank you so much!!!! I loved your version of Village Green... It brought tears of joy to my eyes. You doing village Green was one of those combinations I was hoping for. I feel especially guilty I haven't turned my song in to my giftee yet. The bar is rather high.

Anyway, AWESOME JOB! I hope you got a chance to listen to the rest of that album, it's by far my favorite Kinks album, there's not a bad track on it, and most of them are gold.

I just subjected myself to said testicle pain again this morning when I decided to re-record the chorus vocals. I can't decide if it's much of an improvement, but I think it might be.

As anyone who knows me knows, Buzzcocks are probably the band to have the biggest influence on me, so soon as I saw my list, there was no question I would be tackling this one...

Also, Paco Del Stinko, if you had talent? You are continuously awseome, as your cover amply demonstrates. I would love to hear you play this live, and uncontrollably bop along like an idiot. Thank you. If you like this, you should track down the album of the same name. It's great, like your cover!

Hello GOM, Mrs Rinkydink's and my giftees will unfortunately have to wait a wee bit longer. The music for both is nearly completely recorded mostly just the vocals to do. We've both been too busy to get these things finished, I haven't even had the time to hook up my Christmas presents

We probably won't get them finished this weekend but I'll have them here by Wednesday 16th at the latest, I swear

Anti-M, this recording is extremely great. A very pleasant surprise. Thank you very much. It's just about perfect. I'll admit, I do typically have some issues with guytar, but that's not actually what you've done here at all. First off, you're not a guy, so lots of points for that. I really like your voice quite a lot. And you've created such a dense, intricate arrangement, but it somehow also sounds very clear and open. You've really got a particular talent for creating vocal arrangements, but the work with instruments is great, too. The way things come in and out...I just don't have that kind of skill. Anything beyond a four-piece rock band boggles my mind. There's so much dimension here that I'd never get bored with it (my most common complaint with g&g). Everything is so well-done, it's hard to find anything that stands out. The only thing that stands out as peculiar (not bad, though) is the choice of chords during the introduction. I just wonder if there's any particular reason for the deviation. Otherwise, this fits my perfect model for a cover...very true to the original, but very distinct. For whatever reasons, you've kept mostly the same things I like to keep when writing a new arrangement. I feel like I'll be afraid to sign up next year, for fear of whatever I get being a let-down, compared to this. And you have totally outdone me this year. I wish I could have given something this good...

...though I feel that I might still be able to, given the proper vocalist. I'm moderately proud of my arrangement, even if I wasn't able to figure out all the harmonies and the intricate instrumental parts. But the vocals were just beyond my capability, and there wasn't sufficient time to find an alternative. Anyone, please feel free to deride them as needed. If anyone with a shorter set of pipes than me would like to attempt singing the song I chose, please contact me, and I'll send you the instrumental bit to work with. In the mean time, I have a few little bonus projects of immense fun and excitement brewing. I am hopeful that I will yet make up for my shortcomings.

Oh, also, attention Webmaster: The name of the group is Fall Out Boy, three words (I have no idea why they made it so many words). Not trying to be a dick to anyone about it; and it doesn't bother me in posts or whatever, but I just feel that the official page ought to be as accurate (and therefore professional) as possible, so I thought I'd point it out.

Maybe because "Fallout Boy" and "Fall Out Boy" actually have two different meanings."Fallout" relates to the atmospheric nuclear material resulting from above ground nuclear testing, but "Fall out" is a military (or marching band) order given in order to indicate that some one should step out of formation.

Kinda of like "Lord of Oats" or "Lord Ofoats"
