2 outta 3 ain't bad...

The Primitive Screwheads entry is in the final mixing stage (prepare yourselves for some good ol' fashioned hoedown-syndrome music... or alt-country [?!?!?], if you're all sensitive about that sort of thing  ), and the collab with j$ is done and done.

Solo entry... well, not this round.

Sitting here listening to the almost-last mix for p++, and goddamn, but Albatross ripped that shit up. Him: guitar, bass, drums; Me: vox/lyrics, cheesy violin patch ('coz I couldn't do it analog... go figure, these things take learnin', heh). Consider this a pre-fight throwdown for the Sexy Dancer fight, heh. Y'all got some work ahead of you.

Now, now, let's not count our chickens, et al.

Song has been sent. If for some reason the Purple Reign gods don't receive it, say the word and I'll try again.

Ours is sent in.
This time it's Billy's Little Trip, featuring Generic on keyboards and back up vocals, and Phil Wages on lead vocals. I think it came out pretty good considering that I just gave Phil the lyrics on Saturday, lol.

Awesome, and on New Year's morning! Yowza! Wow, I'm involved in FOUR one on one's! What fun!

Ya'll better hold on to your pants for JCB's Bambi and BLT's Still Waiting. Cool stuff and a LOT of fun! Here are some collab notes:
*Wages feat. Barry Bacon's "With You" was written by me w/ guest keys/beats/tempo adjustments. :)
*Johnny Cashpoint Band's "Bambi" was written by J$ and features me on vocals, and BLT on guitar
*Billy's Little Trip's "Still Waiting" was written by BLT, has me singing, and contains Generic instrumentation (ha!). This tune has NOTHING to do with my solo entry of the same title which was completed before I even knew I was going to be on BLT's SW. I didn't want to junk my song, and I definitely wanted to sing BLT's, so here we are. :)
*Chopped Liver Meat God's "I Feel For You" contains lyrics by me (melody/all music by CLMG)
*"When We're Dancing Close And Slow" contains extra vocals by "Wagette"
*all other "Wages" songs are just guytar, though I'm now recording with a 3 mic setup, so hopefully the quality of recording is getting better.

If I am involved with all the songs next month, it'll probably be between collabs and AAD/AAW-style writing as I just don't think I can devote enough time to getting all the songs written anymore... but we'll see if I get a wild itch. :)

Does the Purple Reign website have a lyric section? If not, that might be a cool addition. Maybe even a "lyrics" link next to the band names on the MP3 pages.

In a fit of inspiration, I wrote three of the songs yesterday: Gotta Broken Heart Again, Party up, and When You Were Mine. I am going to start a collab thread for this month's fight. I will try to keep my post there updated, and I hope some of you will find some tracks there that you would like to work on with me. 8)

***OPEN MESSAGE TO THT DECENT PHIL WAGES CHAP***

A million apologies Phil, I know I said I was going to work with you on something this month, but I've had a bit of an epiphany recently, and will spend the rest of the month working on 'When You Were Mine' which will (if I can do it!!!) be my first ever 100% organic (guitar, bass, drums, vocals, Keyboards), composed in a proper way (D, Am, Em) track...

It'll be very amateurish, will contain lots of mistakes, and will be laughed at and scorned, but will be a huge leap for this particular idiot.

Hopefully during february!

ATB, Nigel (spOOn).

Maybe there should be one thread for each album. Maybe you could change the title to your thread to "Purple Reign - For You, Lyrics" or something, and we can follow that plan for the rest of the Purple Reign albums. Thoughts?

In light of GOM and stuff, this seemingly having been brushed to the side, is there any chance of, say, a five-day extension on the voting for this round? Not that I remember an official announcement of when it was going to close this time...but assuming it's the 15th again, I'd like to move for a moratorium on announcing any winners until there have been more votes, and for a discussion on when to officially close the polls and how to encourage more votes up to the chosen date. Do I have a second?

If it makes any difference, I haven't had a chance to listen to ANY of the songs yet. :(

Oh, I thought we had until the end of the month. Yes, I haven't had the chance to review yet, I was going to wait till after NYC.

Perhaps we do have until the end of the month, and it was just on the 15th the first time in order to get some winners decided quickly to keep the project's momentum going. I suppose I should have made an inquiry sooner, but it didn't occur to me until I looked at the date and said, "Holy stuff! The month is half-over already!" So I'm just trying to make sure that voting doesn't end before a lot of us have a chance to get to it.

Damn, it's already the 15th? I've only listened to the one that I was in. I'll get on the rest while I'm working today and get my votes up this evening.

Might be a moot point. I set them up as 16 day polls when I created them. Once that 16 days is up, I'm fairly certain they will close on their own anyway. Get your listening and votes in while you can.

ROCK!
