Song #1: "Contagious"

It starts under the skin
The sensation of a crawl
It tears apart the muscle
And melts down the bone
It knows no mercy
And we know no cure
Steals our children in their cribs
Decimates the strong

And we were the catalyst
And we were the alchemists
We wanted too much
And now we're infectious, contagious

Black cloud over towns
There is nowhere we can hide
We pary to the goddess
But she turns a blind eye
Brothers lose sisters
Mothers bury their sons
A state of constant fear
When will my time come

And we were the catalyst
And we were the alchemists
We wanted too much
And now we're infectious, contagious

I run for higher grouns
Leaving all I know behind
I curse this avarice
And the choices that we made
Life has turned against us
The goddess washes the slate clean
The city is in disarray
We are running out of time

And we were the catalyst
And we were the alchemists
We wanted too much
And now we're infectious, contagious

Notes:
Contagious is the opening of the story. It's a world where they were practicing alchemy and instead of creating gold, they created a plague.

I like songs that have to do with the body and mind, such as, mental disorder, decay, disease, sexuality, mutation, etc. Something close to my heart, I guess. pun intended
If no one is slated for this one, I'd like to write the music. If someone is already on this one, I can wait for the next anatomy related lyrics.

Song #2: "Duenna Inc."

We have lost count
There are so many lost lives
We soldier on
Holding on by shreds
But our bodies are traitors
And the black clouds are coming
The six o'clock news says
Someone found a cure

Life at what cost
Survival and blood loss
Duenna Inc.
The modern medicine of murder

They call it a miracle
They have built the technology
Spare the soul
Find a new body, and make it whole
They're lining up in the streets
For a chance at a new life
Pay whatever the company wants
The price of salvation

Life at what cost
Survival and blood loss
Duenna Inc.
The modern medicine of murder

He smiles on the TV
The first perfect Neo-Man
Calls his old body a husk
Exalts this as the future
Everybody's signing up
For manufactured immortality
And nobody asks
Where the bodies come from

Life at what cost
Survival and blood loss
Duenna Inc.
The modern medicine of murder

Notes:
In response to the plague, a company called Duenna Inc. devises a new technology. The technology removes souls from infected bodies and places them in new immune bodies. The question is where do the bodies come from.

Song #3: "New York City (Bodysnatchers)"

There is a door
That leads out of this world
Into a vibrant metropolis
Brimming with life

Nothing but a human interest story
One missing person among millions
In New York City
Swallowed up by Central Park
Maybe they drowned
Jumped off the Brooklyn Bridge
They're a name and a photo
Forgotten by tomorrow

And the city moves on
'Caise the city never sleeps
And the bodysnatchers
Run like they own the streets

Boys in blue avert their eyes
Too many battles to fight
No one sees the man
Dragged down the subway tunnels
Nameless faces in the crowds
And the innercity traffic
No one bats an eye
When the girl down the block disappears

And the city moves on
'Caise the city never sleeps
And the bodysnatchers
Run like they own the streets

There is a door
That leads out of their world
Into a dying metropolis
Where their lives are forfeit

Notes:
Duenna Inc.'s supply of new bodies to use in the plague cure is coming from a portal that leads to NYC.

Song #4: "A Simple Operation"

The television turns on
Doctor Q greets you with a smile
Says that you made the right choice
And the goddess would approve
Tells you not to fear
All earthly woes are behind you
Now its time to choose
And new home for your soul

It's a simple operation
You won't feel a thing
It's a simple operation
Perfect and painless

A slideshow runs on the screen
Faces of all the potentials
Doctor Q says they were made
Of new age synthetics
Pictures flash by so fast
You can't see their fear
And they brushed out the bruises
It all seems so perfect

It's a simple operation
You won't feel a thing
It's a simple operation
Perfect and painless

You slip into chemical sleep
And dream of new tomorrow
While they strap the prisoner down
Forcing them to watch
And life slowly dies away
Memories burn like celluloid
They close their eyes forever
You open up your eyes

It's a simple operation
You won't feel a thing
It's a simple operation
Perfect and painless

Notes:
Duenna Inc, lead by their head scientist/spokesman Doctor Q begins doing operations on the sick using the kidnapped New Yorkers, lying to the patients and telling them that the bodies are synthetic.

Song #5: "Near Death Experience"

The sun doesn't shine here
Like the one I used to see
And at night, I stay awak
In fear of what comes next
I wonder what I did wrong
To earn this twist of fate
Will I ever see home again
Or is this how it all ends

Am I as good as dead?
Am I as good as dead?

The guards watch me in bed
I try to stay stone still
I pary they never notice me
Amidst the crowd in this cell
Every night someone's chosen
Kicking and screaming they go
I shed a tear for them
And keep dreaming of home

Am I as good as dead?
Am I as good as dead?

They shoot us with stun guns
They lead us in chain gangs
They get angry if we don't stay
Spotlessly clean
In the yard, there's a statue
Of a doctor, Our captor
One day I'll knock it down
As I make my way back home

Am I as good as dead?
Am I as good as dead?

Note:
The ballad of the prisoner.

"Twelve O'clock Blackout"

The stories say he was
Experiment Number One
A failure of science
And a miracle he survived
Whispers in the cell say
He's leading an escape
Part of the payback
Against the ones who stole his soul

Blackout at midnight
Better hope and pray
The Not-Man takes your hand
And you're someone he saves

The guards know the rumours
But there's nothing they can do
He's like a spectre
And he knows their tricks
They call him the Not-Man
But the prisoners call him Saint
Vigilante, Avenger,
The One Who Leads The Way

Blackout at midnight
Better hope and pray
The Not-Man takes your hand
And you're someone he saves

They pray to a Goddess
And the stories say
The Not Man has the power
To send her to hell
The guards call him a myth
Swear he doesn't exist
But their eyes cannot hide it
There will come a day

Blackout at midnight
Better hope and pray
The Not-Man takes your hand
And you're someone he saves

Notes:
While imprisoned, the prisoners hear the story of The Not-Man, a failure Duenna Inc. experiment who is now working to bring down the company. If he is a myth or real vigilante still lies in question.

Song #7: "Breaking News(High Speed Chase)"

It's a race to the headlines
The breaking news story
Interrupt your television program
Reporter grins from the scene
Duenna cries thievery
Police are after ten escapees
Morning paper headlines
"The Cure Goes Missing"

The cameras unblinking eye
It's a high speed chase
They're closing the dragnets
It's live from Chopper 5

Reporters like piranha
Who's first to catch the drama
Free surgery for anyone
Who brings an escapee back alive
Every man, woman and child
Grab your guns and run
Paparazzi got a picture
Saw them down by the water

The cameras unblinking eye
It's a high speed chase
They're closing the dragnets
It's live from Chopper 5

There are no heroic tales
No flights of freedom
Anchorman puts a spin
Builds up the suspense
All objects are subjects
They write the reality
The propaganda is much grander
Than the truth

The cameras unblinking eye
It's a high speed chase
They're closing the dragnets
It's live from Chopper 5

Notes:
The Not-Man comes and helps 10 prisoners escape. The resulting drama is a media wet dream. Meanwhile Duenna Inc. desperately wants their bodies back.

Niv,

YES! I'm getting excited about this. However, I think you really should assign songs to artists who've signed up for this. THIS IS YOUR VISION! I fear many of us will jump on the same song otherwise.

Anyone else agree with the idea of me choosing the bands to go along with each song?

Also there's at least one more set of lyrics I have to post (for a song called "Prayers").

I agree too. That's why I was reluctant and said, in case someone else is slated for it. Niv, you know everyone's style and you can even suggest the members you choose to push on certain styles that you've heard them do. Also, I wouldn't be hurt if you're not interested in me doing one. I know my sound isn't necessarily appealing to most. But if you want something dark and theme'ish, I'm sure I can put something together along the lines of my Purple Tapes songs.

I would encourage you to act as producer, and draw upon us as a stable of artists, even to the extent of suggesting collaborations as you see fit. And like BLT, we will not be upset if we don't end up in this thing. We're just a resource. A weird resource.

I agree with everyone. I was under the impression that's how it would work. I think it will be cool to get a PM from Niv one day saying that there is a song written just for the Hell Yeahs! :)

Okay, then I will choose. I'm gonna think about who would be best for what song and then I'll send out PMs.

Plus, I still have to post up the lyrics for "Prayers" and the tentatively titled "Ghost Towns"

Okay I think today will be the day that I send out some PMs regarding who gets what lyrics.

What I've been doing since last post is writing lyrics for "Prayers", "Audience", and "Headbanger" which I'll post up today. And I have been looking at the story as it stands. It's an odd experience writing a story this way. But it's fun.

"Prayers"

My God
Can't see me from where I stand
I'm trapped in this foreign land
Far from his protection
They want to burn my soul
Then take what's left behind
I'm fighting for my life
I'm reaching out

Praying to a god not my own
Praying for divine intervention
Praying for some kind of salvation
A moment of your grace

Dear Goddess
I am not one of your children
I come from a place
Where they have never heard your voice
Still I seek your mercy
The kindness of strangers
I've nowhere to go
There's wolves at the door

Praying to a god not my own
Praying for divine intervention
Praying for some kind of salvation
A moment of your grace

Tell me
Wherever I am I'm not alone
Give me strength
Give me a little piece of hope
Tell me
Wherever I am I'm not alone
Give me strength
Give me a little piece of hope

Praying to a god not my own
Praying for divine intervention
Praying for some kind of salvation
A moment of your grace

Notes:
The chase has progressed and the escapees are in trouble, so they ask for some divine help

"Audience"

They saw it coming
They just couldn't turn the tide
So they held each other's hands
Let the darkness do its worst
Piles of clothes remain
Where bodies turned to ash
The place where I stand is
The eye of the hurricane

God spoke to me
In a ghost town
Told me this world
Needs to burn straight down

I stand before the storm
The foundation of their fear
Streets of mutilation
But there's a calmness inside me
The Goddess has turned
Whispered secrets in my ear
Gave me the strength
To overcome, do what must be done

God spoke to me
In a ghost town
Told me this world
Needs to burn straight down

Underneath the blcak clouds
I feel safe and sound
Despite the darkness
The future seems so bright
In my heart is revolution
And images of home
This world needs to die
And I will lead the charge

God spoke to me
In a ghost town
Told me this world
Needs to burn straight down

Notes:
The chase ends up in a ghost town where the plague had hit. There, in the face of the plague storm, they get an audience with the Goddess. The goddess then explains that the world they're in is slated for destruction.
