wouldn't doing the contest through songfight just be messing with songfight during those weeks? the person who does songfight during those weeks who isn't part of the contest will have to deal with huge contest going on (not to mention potential friend-flooding).

i just liked that, when you get kicked out of nur ein, it's like getting kicked out of the big pool and so you go back to the kiddy-pool (songfight).

I don't think the people who would be participating in these sidefights are the ones we generally worry about friend-flooding with.

Besides which. Everyone, every fight, should always be turning in their best work and getting as many friends/fans as possible to visit the site. The idea behind these contests is to motivate Songfighters to do their best within a fight. I doubt that'll affect Songfighters not participating in these contests, aside from inspiring stronger competition, which would be a good thing.

I like it -- as we all have seen time and again, the Song Fight! voting system can be easily swayed (accidentally or intentionally). Averaging judges' scores with votes can lessen this effect, with the (possible) added benefit of increasing reviews. Also, more complicated math, so clearly a better plan.

EDIT #1: whoops! this was in response to Caravan Ray's post, like a page and a half ago. Missed all that crap in between somehow. I still stick with my statement, I like the way it is shaping up. And again, I'm happy to see it is becoming needlessly infinitely more complicated, which absolutely is a sign that it is improving.

Occam who??

EDIT #2: In case I am not being clear, I am only being sarcastic when talking about stuff getting more complicated being better. Otherwise, no sarcasm.

I'm with Spud. I feel like the regular fight needs some love right now. Perhaps we can do some hxaros and coverfights on the side for the moment and then worry about another Nur Ein-like colossus in a few months. FBF hasn't even gotten a chance to finish his victory lap yet. :P

There really shouldn't be anything like Nur Ein anyway, in my opinion. It's already been done and works fine. New completely different ideas are always better.
I'd still like to see the "G&G Rock Producer" come to light. I just don't have the ambition to spearhead it. I had fun doing this with one of Henrieta's songs a while back, and it was fun and I thought came out pretty good.
