Remixfight Spam
Hey, can somebody who's an admin on the Remixfight boards do something about the spam I keep getting on there to my PM mailbox? It's either that or I guess I could kill my account on that forum.

Re: Remixfight Spam
I was getting the spams also, so I posted to their boards about it. I just checked back today or yesterday and saw that they'd removed their boards entirely, so you shouldn't be getting the spams anymore. Kind of sad that they had to take drastic action like that, but they weren't getting much real activity on their boards anymore anyway, apparently. It looks like participation is low in general over there, which is also a shame. Perhaps more cross promotion with the Song Fight! crowd would help? I don't know. Somesongs is pretty much dead, too. It's a sad time for Song Fight! offshoots/related Web sites, I guess.

Re: Remixfight Spam
I think we should have a sidefight of songs based on spam we've received in the past.

Gah, I have no originality. But brad sucks is awesome, so having the same ideas as him is kind of a compliment.Spud wrote:http://www.bradsucks.net/albums/outside_the_inbox/Reïst wrote:I think we should have a sidefight of songs based on spam we've received in the past.

Re: Remixfight Spam
Yeah, after that i did an album-a-day project totally based on phrases from spams I got that day. It was fun.
Also, I know the spams have been an issue lately. Jack's doing the best he can, I think, but some of these spammers are evidently doing it all by hand (and a big waste of time it is for them), which makes it hard to stop them ahead of time.

Re: Remixfight Spam
Wasn't there talk about revamping somesongs at some point? The whole thing seems outdated (in my opinion - but remember, I'm no web designer). However, because content is the core of somesongs, I feel like it's absolutely salvageable with some tweaks to the user interface.Lunkhead wrote:Somesongs is pretty much dead, too. What say you? Is this a worthwhile project? Or is it pie in the sky?

Re: Remixfight Spam
Reist, maybe you should create a thread about somesongs too? I'd be very interested in what people had to say about it.

Re: Remixfight Spam
yeah, i disabled and deleted the old forum (i backed it up) so anyone registered on Remixfight should not get any more spam. sorry for that.
as Sam said, the activity was low and the aggravation level was high, so drastic measures needed to be taken. I was getting very frustrated with it.
I may start a new forum at some point, maybe with a Wordpress forum instead of phpbb. if that happens i'll let the old member list know about it, but that should be the last email you'd get from remixfight.
thanks to all you guys here that participated over the years. the whole thing came to exist out of song fight, so of course, thanks to song fight for that. I'll probably continue to update the site without a forum for now.
