hmm... so i started to record music for "boron rod", but in the middle it turned into a completely different song. but i think that is okay. it's another song for fawm!

I started recording a song last night, and thought it may be fun to do it under a new name - maybe go for a new sort of sound. A name that came to my head a few days ago that I thought sounded cool was :
"The Periodic Table of the Elephants"
anyway - a quick google showed that I was far from the first person to think of it. Bugger.
Looks like the toy elephants I brought back from India. Put a crystal meth pipe in it and it's Breaking Bad Elephant. /groan
I'm in full on writing mode now. I found I did this two years ago. Stewed, then exploded with recordings. For me, however, FAWM is like Songfight!. It's not enough, for me at least, to just write the songs. I have to record them and master them as well. It's part of the chaos. A song written, recorded, mastered and uploaded in a matter of average of every 2 days is no small feat. The only FAWM I completed I recorded and wrote the bulk in 5 crammed days at the end of February. I hope it doesn't go that way this year. That was hell on my wife and family, not to mention the virtual jet-lag of recording every single night til 6 am. Big carafe of coffee who completes it on the recorded front. Whatever that means.
I didn't record a new one last night, but the wife is heading out of town for the weekend, so I think I can nail down at least a good half-dozen more before I have to go to work on Monday.
By the way, the heat's out in my apartment. Criminey.

that looks like one of those charity decorating contests they do these days. a city has some sort of icon, they make a bunch of them, area artists paint them or whatever, they get placed around the city for a while then auctioned off for charity.
it's a cool name. i'm sure you could use it anyway, these are certainly unrelated areas.

8pm last night, I started an AAD (of course, this will also contribute to my FAWM count). They're going to be eight piano demos recorded between 8 and 8, so I'm calling it Eight 88s. As of 4am, I had six songs, then crashed for six hours. I've got ten hours to do the last two.
This puts me at 9 out of 14 and counting.
Relistening to last night's work right now; some of them are still holding up on repeated listens after a night's sleep. http://fawm.org/fawmers/joneric/

I've been writing alot, not finishing much, and not yet recording, until just now. My first demo is up, "I Can See You", songfight title from June 2001:
I may not finish it in time for the "Boron Rod" fight, and at the moment, it is sounding a bit crap. But it is looking like I will get at least 1 song up for FAWM!
i've got two done, a couple more in progress. but my freakin' acid keeps crashing. three times in the last 10 minutes. no idea what its problem is. this computer is getting so unstable.

You truly have a gift in that you can complete 12 pieces of music in such a short period of time.
I'm feeling a little violated.
Oh, and my two new tracks Fighting Apathy While Seeking a Smile and A Heart Can Only Wear a Sleeve brings me up to 5 demos: http://fawm.org/fawmers/wages/
...maybe my next title will exceed 10 syllables....
Wages - Hoglen & Wages - The Affirmative Mention - Gawking Urethras - The EAF - and more

Jon already clearly stated that he's not doing his Gift of Music song because he's "not enthusiastic about the source material, and it's weighing [him] down". Don't expect him to suddenly stop FAWMing and pull a cover together. He's mentally moved on to other things. So, I say that we should move on and get someone else to do a cover from the Boffo Yux Dudes' list.
