Original Flava Coverfight 2013

Post by Niveous »

It's been quite a few years since or last Original Flava Coverfight, I think it's a good time to remedy that.

For those who don't know, an Original Flava Coverfight is where Songfighters cover the songs of their fellow Songfighters. Songs will be due sometime in late September. Who's in?

UPDATE:

Enjoy the Coverfight!

BYD is in. Since we're new to the system, how do we pick an artist / song?

There have been a few variations on this formula over the years, so Niveous will let us know if he wants to put a spin on it this time around, but the typical formula is as follows:

After some predetermined amount to time for everyone to declare whether they're in, the covermaster will covertly message you with the name of someone else who signed up. It's then up to you to pick which of that person's songs you want to put your own unique spin on.

Niv, how long did you want the signup process to be for this one?

How does this work? Do you pick any song?
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

1. Sign Up
2. Sign Ups close on Monday
3. Covermaster (me) assigns you one of the other signed up SF'ers (covertly)
4. Cover one of their songs, your choice, by the due date (TBA, sometime in late Sept.)

I'm not sure if I will be entering solo or if I will be able to get Erin to participate. If it's just me, though, since I have very few Lunkhead entries would it be possible to allow the person covering a song for me to be able to choose from Merisan songs too if they'd like?

Yes absolutely. In fact, I think it's a good idea for those who are in to list potential works that someone could choose from.

For instance; if someone were to get me,they could pick from these 66 SF songs- http://www.songfight.net/forums/viewtop ... 966#p49966

OK, I'll be in too, although my pickins are extremely slim cause I do mostly covers. I really only have the tiny p++ collection proper, plus one song we did for the Purple Reign project, plus one Pink Pope song. Hopefully that will be sufficient.

I'm really not a musician so much as I am a mimic with instruments. And I need something to mimic.

As ever, you can find my stuff scattered throughout Song Fight... any of the entries labelled Jon Eric are fair game of course, as are any that start with "Jon Eric," such as "Jon Eric & Friends," or any "Jon Eric featuring" entries. You're also free to choose any non-Song Fight songs hosted on my (admittedly fallow) web site.
