Talking Heads Coverfight 2013? (after Original Flava fight)

Post by Lunkhead »

I recently saw David Byrne and St. Vincent, and they totally blew my mind. Since then I've been listening to a Talking Heads station on Pandora a lot. Man, they have so many good songs. So, how about a Talking Heads coverfight? This would be for some time after the Original Flava coverfight that Niveous is organizing. I just wanted to get this queued up and get people thinking about it and gauge interest now.

EDIT: Songs posted Dec. 1st:

Ladies and gentlemen, I present the Talking Heads Cover Fight 2013!

I would be interested. I love the Talking Heads. I would need some help to do it right but I would love to do a cover of "Lifetime Piling Up".

Would Talking Heads off-shoots count as well (like Tom Tom Club or The Heads)?

Offshoots would be fine with me, but on the other hand, I'd personally be more excited about the Talking Heads covers.

lots of good Byrne solo, and Byrne and Eno stuff too. However I agree, that keeping it to Talking Heads would be my preference.
Have you guys seen Talking heads live in Roma 1980? one of my favorite concert films. They're such a good band!
Don't you think Adrien Belew lifted I Zimba for Thela Hun Ginjeet?

I couldn't NOT do this. Perhaps I'd tackle something from the Naked album, which isn't a huge favorite among the faithful but I love it to death.

I'm a big Talking Heads fan. If I didn't participate in this side fight, I'd feel unappreciative of organic experimental groove.

Yes!! I've had my eyes on a TH cover for years but have never gotten around to it. This would be a good impetus.
Of course I already did a cover of "This Must Be the Place" for GOM 2006, but I'd do a new one for this :)

I am in, as long as you guys lose the "the". I mean, show some respect. THE Beatles. OK. The Stones. OK. The Chicagos? The Kraftwerks? The Weezer? No. It's Talking Heads, people.

Drop the "the". Just "Songfight". It's cleaner.

Who is up for - beyond individual entries - a Supergroup effort where all participants contribute to putting a bit in for a mega-version of The Talking Head's, "The Psycho Killer"?

Psycho killer is the song I was planning on for the psychotics, lol. But I think a collab would be fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa far better. ;)

We need to get The Spud in on it too. He needs to get back in the swing. :P
