GOM 2014-2015

Post by Niveous »

It's that time of year again. GOM!

Can you believe we've been doing Gift of Music since Holiday Season 2003? People seem to dig it, so let's do another one.

For those new to the concept:

1. Post in this thread that you'd like to take part.
2. Post a list 4 songs (not your own songs or SF songs) that you would like to hear someone cover. (Links to the songs are very helpful)
3. On 11/29/14, I collect all the entrant's names and put them in a hat.
4. You are given the name of one of the other entrants.
5. Find their list and pick a song and cover it. Keep it hush hush, this is a Secret Santa.
6. Send the cover to "iamniveous" at Gmail. Deadline is 1/8/15.
7. After the deadline, I will post them all the songs on my website.
8. Holiday joy ensues.

So, who's in?

Code: Select all

<embed allowscriptaccess="never" height="224" src="http://pitchinbox.com/widget/widget.swf?id=5790478961" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="320" wmode="transparent">
It's come to my attention that the benefit portion of Gift of Music this year needs a bit of a boost - so I've created a Pitch In box if you are so inclined to toss some change into the kitty towards the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Past 'winners' of GOM had the funds donated to JDRF in their name.

No obligation, but if you want to help out, here's an easy way to help via a PayPal account.

I'm not sure if the embed code actually worked, (Edit - doesn't look like it did) so here's a link to the widget on the 'Today's the Day' cover site. Paco Del Stinko did his version of the song for last year's GOM.

I shall participate. (Hi)

Queen - "Don't Stop Me Now"

The B52's - "Love Shack"

Regina Spektor - "Dance Anthem of the 80's"

Aerosmith - "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing"

Note: Site didn't like my off-site (youtube) URLs so I had to delete them. Said they looked spamy. Sorry if that makes things more difficult on you. They're easy songs to find.

I'll be in, natch. With Caravan Ray bowing out last year, I think I probably have the longest active GoM streak (currently 10).

Songs to follow. Hopefully I'll remember before the entry deadline.
