I've given up in frustration every time I've tried to compose anything with it. Logic Remote seems like a more promising use of the iPad in my music making, but to date I haven't used it much either.fluffy wrote:The iOS version of GarageBand is pretty terrible about that stuff yeah. I have no idea how anyone can have the patience necessary to actually build a whole song with it - I find it hard enough to use it as a musical scratchpad.

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
I use Logic Remote primarily as a control surface and occasionally for its chord strips and mixer controls.

Turns out I wasn't ready yet. But I'll still take this one when I have the energy to do so.Lunkhead wrote:Here you go, fluffy:fluffy wrote:I'm ready to be challenged.

Awesome! I still haven't had a chance to start putting together a leaderboard and tracking points. I'm still trying to figure out a good way to manage and post that.

Oh, and if you add the lyrics to the lyrics archive, please include the link to the post, otherwise if I don't get around to tallying your points till later I might miss that.

It's OK, I hadn't thought about that beforehand, so, adding a new guideline on the fly.

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
So do I get the Chumpy bonus for indicating in Ye Olde Lyric Archive that this [terrible, terrible] song has no lyrics, or is the Chumpy bonus N/A to instrumentals?

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
Ooh, good question, and another corner case. I think if the song doesn't have lyrics it doesn't qualify for the Chumpy bonus. Sorry!

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
If I build a site for this and to participate in it folks would have to sign up with an email address, would that be something people would do? Or is that too annoying?

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
Why not just cut-n-paste some SF code and have the same kind of submission process that the main page has? Ask for emails to be sent (from whatever address; I use different ones on a whim) that have the proper subject & body--in this case, the subject could just be "random cover songs" every time, and the body could be a link to the covered song followed by the band name. Or something like that.Lunkhead wrote:If I build a site for this and to participate in it folks would have to sign up with an email address, would that be something people would do? Instead, or also, you could make it where participants have to make an account (that doesn't necessarily include a specific email address) just like on the SF board. That could make it easier to assign points and cut down on the confusion that might arise from having single usernames with multiple band names--some assholes around here like to do that kind of thing.

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
I'm ready to start dealing with this now. But I have a question. Mine was done in '04 and the lyrics are a bit Mayonaisey. Can I just take a stab at GUESSING them?
