National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo)

Post by jimtyrrell »

November is National Novel Writing Month.

http://www.nanowrimo.org/

30 days to write 50,000 words. I know a few songfighters gave this a shot last year. Anybody up for it this year?

I'm in, signed up and outlining a plot in my head I try to survive the business of this month. Hopefully November cuts me a little slack to try and finish this year.

Horror/Thriller genre for me.

Last year I started with what I thought was a pretty good opening sentence. It worked well enough; I got a 50,047 word book written. No masterpiece, but it's done anyway.
This year I have a situation in mind, and I'll see where it takes me.

I've signed up and am planning to do an album/novel. The only idea I have floating around so far is to use Songfight! titles as chapter titles.

Me too! Mogosagatai is in on a similar concept too I think.

I hope Jute Gyte enters again and shares with us. It's better than a word-a-day calendar because those don't teach me new ways to refer to copper-colored excrement.

Thanks for the link Jim! I just signed up for this. I can't write for beans, but at least I've got a decent plot idea to start with....

I tried unsuccessfully to do this last year. I got about 6000 words and then we had a baby. Unfortunately there's no way I can do it this year, but I'm going to try my own personal CraNoWriMo in January, when I expect my schedule to ease up.

Just woke up. Gonna try and get my words for the day before I go to work.

Good luck, novelists!

EDIT: The first day is a pretty easy one. I'm at 1,825. I should have time to write a bit tonight, too. Woot!

I think the key to this is not to look to far ahead. Keep your head down and get your 1600. One foot in front of the other kind of deal...

I've got eight thousand words and I'm still going strong.

I'm posting each day's worth of writing to a website to prevent me from going back and editing all the time. You can follow my progress at http://www.crushfeldspar.com/nanowrimo if you are so inclined.

Just broke the 10,000 word mark. No aliens or sodomy yet, but it's early. My story does make mention of a band called The Undernaüghties though, and I may have to pen some songs for them.
