belated introduction

Post by fauxthoreau »

Hey everyone, fauxthoreau here. I’ve entered a few fights over the years, first as Kenka back in 2015ish and then as fauxthoreau starting in late 2018. I never properly introduced myself, so I figured no better time than now. Hi!

I’ve been something of an amateur/hobbyist musician for most of my life—started by playing viola in middle school and then moved over to guitar back in my college days. I’ve spent the past 8 years drumming with a community taiko group in NYC. Most recently I’ve begun to explore composing chiptune through a tool called Beepbox, and I’ve been using my Songfight entries in part to work on my composition and Beepbox skills.

I don’t actually remember how I first came across Songfight. But I really enjoy how the fight themes bring out ideas, moods, melodies, and lyrics that I didn’t know I had in me. I hope to participate in fights as often as life and inspiration permit. When I can’t, I’ll try and hang out on the boards at least.

Good to meet you all!

Thanks all for the welcome and the kind words! The latest edition of Beepbox comes with FM bass presets for pure Sega Genesis goodness, so I had a lot of fun making this one.

I never said hi (mainly because I can be a real arsehole according to.. well, just about everyone.) Welcome! I used beepbox last year for ten songs during the 50 Songs in 90 Days songwriting challenge. I have to admit, my results are not nearly as entertaining or impressive as yours.
