How fast can you type?

Post by fluffy »

According to this online typing test I can type 117WPM, and I wasn't even trying that hard.

first time through, 70, then 86 when I tried it again and knew where to look for the next new words... gee, I thought I was pretty fast at this... maybe my setup just isn't ergonomic enough.

I remember when I was at Motorola, talking with a friend who was a programmer and was a hunt and peck typist... I said something about how Motorola ought to send everybody to typing class, since most of what we did all day was sit at our terminals and type in code... he got very offended, like it was some sort of "don't tell me how to do my job" thing.

It won't let me vote. But I type naturally at around 85 wpm. When I am trying hard I can get to 110+
From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style. :D

I didn't understand the website because the words disappeared! so I got fifty! But then I realized what was going on. Does it go by points or what it says your wpm is? I've never taken a typing test before.

I don't type random words. I type sentences. Bad test.
But it puts me at 100. I only use 8 fingers too.. maybe 7.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

I guess I am just really slow. :( You think I'd be faster because of piano or something. Lots of mistakes though! Of course ... yeah. then I remember the piano playing.

Duh .....

I used to play a mud that was hack n slash or 'realtime'. In other words, the attacking was not on a timer. And you could PVP anyone within 5 levels. Nothing will get you faster at typing than having your life depend on it. :)

87 sloppy points. I was faster once upon a time, but that's ok. And slop: my trademark.

101 and I only used my middle finger.

....and I only typed the word f**k you.

edit: what, this site censors the word f**k now? What a crock of s**t! Sp*d, what the hell? Oh great, you can't even say the fight masters name without getting c*ns*rd.

edit: WT*?

89. I guess my touch typing has been messed up by mostly just typing code for so many years, using way more non-alphanumeric characters and multi-key keyboard shortcuts than English. ;)

Copy-pasting the text into the input box doesn't count!

Really guys? I chicken peck with my two pointer fingers and my thumb on the spacebar and my right ring finger on the enter key... and I got: 230 points - 322 characters per minute.

"Characters per minute" is not the same as "words per minute". Check the "words per minute" score you get at the end. It's sort of in the vertical center of the left half o the page, in a box with a thin black border if I recall correctly.
