The video I had hoped to make isn't going to make it. Maybe next year.

Since I don't see anything about LiveFight, I'm guessing that isn't happening this year?

My understanding so far was that it is supposed to happen, but the details haven't been divulged yet.

I think the intention was that the "live fight" would be with whatever title gets posted after Saturday? Or something like that.

That's kinda like how we normally did things. It'd be great to get some concrete details spelled out for people here.

I'm just going based on what Phlub said back towards the beginning of the thread:

After the performance broadcasts, the next SongFight title will be the title for the live fight, in which people have one week to submit videos of an ORIGINAL song using the title. Same rules as regular songfight, but in video format with a performance element. I'm not sure how the voting for that would go -- in years past it has been done live via a webpage with a "vote" button. I'd personally prefer doing it like standard songfight voting for people who can't watch the broadcast due to timezone issues, but if others disagree with that idea I'm not wed to it.

Is the live fight one week later on Oct 15th? or One day later on Oct 9th? The beginning of this thread says Oct 9th.

If you read the post above... it appears that it will be whatever Title gets posted After the Live Performance Broadcast happens... So whenever the next title gets posted... which would be after Tuesday, 10/11/22 (which is when the current fight title is due).

I guess maybe there should have been some more coordination between me and sleepysilverdoor around the live fight. None was initiated on either side. I guess I was waiting to hear from the organizer about it. It's probably a bit late for that to happen now for the live fight to be this weekend. In case it wasn't known to folks, the usual thing for the live fight, at least for the IRL events, was for the host to pick the title and provide it to the admins in advance. We can still do that, and, if I get a title and there is a date/time that is desired for the live fight to happen I can go ahead and at least post it to the boards 5-7 days beforehand (or whatever short lead time folks want) and maybe post it to the homepage too.

(EDIT: I posted on the Discord about this too. But just for future reference for everybody, the boards or the fightmaster email are the best ways to reach me about admin stuff.)

Yeah, there probably could have been more communication on that front, but me and Lunkhead are gonna hash this out via PM and get back to y'all.

So LiveFight date is still to be determined, but stay tuned for updates. It won't be next weekend because I'm going to be out of town camping with my young'uns at the cub scout SpookORee! And it's forecast to rain so I guess we'll all be getting wet.

THAT BEING SAID (drumroll please):

Premieres tomorrow night! Lots of great performances by everyone involved!

For those in the continental US and Canada :
6 PM PDT 8 Oct 2022
7 PM MDT 8 Oct 2022
8 PM CDT 8 Oct 2022
9 PM EDT 8 Oct 2022

For Gizo:
Noon 9 Oct 2022

For UK/Ireland (sorryyyyyyyyyy)

Well it's songfight, so it's a soft deadline! I just want a show that's more than 5 minutes long and an actual contest. I'll keep the original air date -- but everybody hustle!
