Song Fight! Live 2016 New York July 16th and 17th

It is now official.

Songfight Live 2016 in New York City. The weekend of July 16 & 17th!

On the 17th, we will be playing at Sidewalk (6th and Ave A) from 6pm to 10pm (at least).

Give me a sense of who can come and who can't and I'll work on getting a good place for the 16th as well.

JB is in and bringing his post-punk trio with him, so please find a venue that accepts very loud music.

I am so totally in. Too bad I don't work with folks in the NY office anymore so I can't use this as an excuse for another expensable business trip. Oh well. :)

By the time this happens, my family and I will have completed our relocation to Pittsburgh. Pretty easy to escape to NYC for a couple of days from there, so mark me down.

However, as I'm only like 90% sure, don't mark me down for a set. I don't think I'll have any time to rehearse anyway. Hope to see you guys there!

I'm booking my travel and hotel now so this better not change dates. I'll be arriving the morning of the 12th and leaving the evening of the 18th.

Also, hotel-wise I'm going with the Sheraton Four Points in SoHo. It's fairly cheap (for NYC anyway, $240/night-ish) and I've stayed there before - highly recommended and in a great location. I'm not interested in splitting my room this time around but it's really cost-effective for anyone who does. I've also stayed at the Pod Hotel and it's okay (and really cheap! at around $140/night) but not wonderful.

Or if you really want to live on the edge you could try Hotel Tonight.

Just for those of you not following Nur Ein - Pepper Jane is a friend of mine from Toowoomba who has just thrown her hat into the ring over there.

Since my employment status still makes it seem unlikely that I will make it to NYC this year - I thought I better find a replacement Australian for you. You know you need one - to add a bit of class to the proceedngs and make sure the rest of you lot behave yourselves. (oh - she is quite an excellent songwriter and performer too..so there's that as well. Already thinking that a Pepper Jane/Holly Furlone duo could be quite impressive)

But I believe PJ, that the general protocol is that it will be good form to have a Songfight-proper entry on the board pre-NYC.

Plenty of time for you to knock a few of those up after you win Nur Ein.
