I submitted an acoustic set! I got frustrated with trying to get my software setup working and just recorded it with my phone. I realized too late I should have put my username on the upload instead of my real name (and forgot to introduce myself in the video)— hopefully you can figure it out, JB?

ps I messed up the last song but didn’t feel like starting over again from the beginning, so I just left the goof in there, sorry for this blemish on the otherwise completely professional song fight community

Yay!

Can we get Lichen Throat in here? I have absolutely no idea how that'd work but I want a Lichen Throat live set.

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I don't know how that would work, either. I doubt that watching me sing next to my laptop would be very interesting, especially since I've never performed in public, nor have I ever sung one of my songs all the way through in a single take.

All of your lyrics as a poetry slam, of course! Nah, I get it...laptop + vocal performance probably isn't that engaging.

Heck, MC Poncho did a set like that in Austin in 2004 where he rapped against his backing tracks that were burned to a CD, and whenever the tracks were longer than he needed he filled the time in with yo-yo tricks.

No time like the present to get started! You should perform a song!

This really is the best opportunity to try out performing. You can do extra takes, you don't have to face the audience, in the stream we'll just be happy to see more faces.

Yes, this. Also don't feel like your performance has to be "live."

I was struck by how positive and excited everyone was in the live youtube chat. Very much had the encouraging vibe of real songfight live events. If you're on the fence because the review threads get a little mean sometimes, there's none of that here 💗

I'd like to formally join the angry horde demanding a Lichen Throat set.

Also, I just had my piano tuned in preparation for my set. Do I forward the invoice to Spud or JB?

Buy yourself a tuning fork and a hammer and learn to do it yourself. It's tedious as hell but once you learn it it's a useful skill to have.

Oh by the way I submitted another 3 song set and an old non-SF livecoding experiment I did in 2016.

I sent some videos to the dropbox. I messed it up a bit and might have sent the same video twice but hopefully from the file names it's fairly obvious which order they go in.
