possible setlists

Post by jack »

i think it would be helpful if you are looking for people to help fill out your band, or if you are making yourself available to help others, to post songs that you might like to do in your set, giving others a chance to learn them far in advance.

the setlist will of course depend on how many folks show up, but i'm guessing at least 4-5 songs from each artist/band.

Is the format of the show going to be "concert + special title" or is it going to be a pre-chosen fight format like the Wet & Wild example, Jack?

<strike>Here are some Cow Exchange-ish songs that I'd like to do.</strike> If you have strong feelings about a Cow Ex song you want to hear (or play) live, please tell me so I don't disappoint you.

EDIT: Woooosh! There go my plans, off to a different site. Gettin' by with a little help from my friends.

I like to keep my setlist a surprise since i prefer to just find people and then tell them what we're playing. Set changes suck.

In the event I actually make it, I will require a band to play "Sunny Again". Blue must play drums, even if he isn't coming. Jack Shite and friends are also required.

I'd need piano and some sort of strings. Oh yeah, and timpani!

Been thinking about this a little, thinking I'd like to play:

WTF (rewritten for SFL High and Dry)
Thunderstorm
Toronto Star
Troublemaker
(the previously unreleased) Zombie Son

...or if I wanted to take up the optional challenge, I s'pose I'd do Jack Shite's "Mission Accomplished" (oops, wait, I guess Jack's going to be there and the O.C. is for a songfighter who won't be there... hmm, hafta think some more...)

...and, lessee, is j$ planning to be there? 'cause if he is, then "Lavender Splendor" at the ready for an encore...

But, y'know, I'm still just thinkin' about it...

UPDATE: recent thoughts include doing "So Long Atticus" instead of "Toronto Star" if Adjuster will be there to sing the "dad" part, and then it seems like "Red Flag" really needs to be in there somewhere. Fifteen to twenty minutes, huh? Hmm...

I'm still reasonably confident of making an appearance - just need to sort out some minor details before booking my ticket though.

Caravan Ray will probably just play solo - Tex Beaumont however has indicated he might like to pull together a Santa Cruz version of The Dirty Hearts to perform Pencil Me In:
http://web.aanet.com.au/caravanray/Penc ... TB&TDH.mp3
(does Nur Ein count as a Songfight! song?)

Will need drums, bass and lots of backing vocalists (especially female) for "ba-ba-ba-ba" duty

I should hope it would include sidefights.
Lots of good songs would be in the mix then...

My current plan of action iiiis:

1. Tanker Truck (with Future Boy and Ken)
2. Method of Delivery
3. One Less
4. Here Comes My Dragon (Hostess Mostess cover) (With Marcus Kellis and more TBA)
5. Don't You

It comes to just under 20 minutes.

And I might change Method of Delivery to Switch Hitter if it gets good reviews this week.

Also, if anyone wants to sing on the HM track, just PM me. I need some "Hum muh muh manana"s as well as just some other voices to boom it up a bit.

My plan:

1. Stronger Than (+5)
2. Secret cover #1
3. 120MPH (+5 - I will need the piano)
4. Secret cover #2
5. Gin Or Ginseng

2 and 4 have special arrangements too, so even if I were to point to the original songs it wouldn't be helpful for people playing along.

Blue, will you drum for me? (1,2,4,5)

Bjam, will you do violin? (I promise the parts aren't hard! 2,4, maybe 3)

Dre, will you do trumpet? (2,4, maybe 3)

Spud, will you play bass? (1,2,3,4,5)

Very thanks!

I've never played violin in my life. I don't think I'd be much help. Sorry :(

Oh, I thought you told me that you used to play it as a kid.

Okay, can anyone else do violin for me? (I will bring the violin.)

i took a violin lessons last year, and was able to play long sweeping notes, but that was months ago, plus it'll be kind of hard playing trumpet and violin @ the same time.

Yes, am still planning on taking my trumpet, to perform the song you PM me
(Which sounds great by the way), and was planning on figuring out the notes later this weekend.
I don’t mind playing trumpet for the other 2 songs, or violin (remember beginner level)
But if you can PM me the notes for the melodies, that would make things a lot easier/faster.

Also fluffy, do you think you can help me out with some guitar/bass work?

I would also love to JAM with <b>Caravan Ray, the Ausi from down under</b>

In the case of 120MPH the trumpet or violin would play the same part so I only need one or the other. I still need to get around to making an arrangement of Secret Cover #2 (the one I PMed you about) which explains what I want the trumpet to do; trumpet is definitely more important for this arrangement than violin in any case. When I do an arrangement I'll do it all in MIDI so I can provide sheet music too.
Also fluffy, do you think you can help me out with some guitar/bass work?
Of course!

It's a date! I think a trumpet would go well on Pencil Me In - and I would be pleased to help you out any way I can.

(Oh...so long as you don't pronounce "Ausi" in that annoying American way with the soft 's' - eg. awess-ee. It's usually spelt 'Aussie' and pronounced the same way as Mr Osborne's first name  )
