2010 no-longer-Afterparty

Post by fluffy »

Traditionally there is some sort of party the day after the show. Would anyone be interested in coming to one at my place (in South Mission/Bernal Heights) on Monday the 19th?

I know that's probably going to be sub-optimal around a lot of peoples' travel plans, but I would prefer doing it on Monday as I have a work obligation in the South bay on Friday. If enough people could ONLY make it on Friday, though, I'll see what I can do.

Okay, well if Spud can't make it Monday, then obviously we're going to have to do it Friday. I can make it work.

So, I would like to tentatively invite everyone here to my home on Friday, July 16, starting at 7:00 PM or so.

The address is 3239 Mission St, Apt 7, San Francisco, CA 94110. It's where Mission and Valencia come together, and right next door to SoCha (so it's already basically on Roymond's map). Feel free to bring food and drinks. Parking sucks, but BART and Muni are both reasonably close (the Muni, 14, 36, and 49 stop literally in front, and the 27, F/J, and a few others run very close by). PM me if you want my cellphone number.

I am not promising that I can make it Friday night either, but since the show was scheduled for Friday for some time, I would think that a few people have planned their travel plans around being there on Friday, so I think it's a good choice. Will try to make it.

I'm kind of surprised that anyone would schedule travel to San Francisco to be as tightly-coupled with a single two-night event as possible.

For most, that was not a choice.

Yeah, I realize how difficult this has been for everyone, including the out-of-towners with limited vacation scheduling opportunity. The big lesson I've learned so far is that it's important to establish a date long before anything else - even in San Francisco, it's always possible to find a venue for a certain date (and you often end up having to re-find one at the last minute anyway).

I don't know if everyone was thinking like this, but I thought it would be better to be in town a few days before the show rather than after...just in case other people were around and we could practice some songs so that my set wouldn't be a complete train wreck (I'd be happy with just a few minor derailments).

My thinking was similar.

By the way, if there were something low-key on Monday morning/early afternoon, I'd probably be able to make it. My flight takes off at 4:20pm.

Yeah, I figured that's what everyone's thinking would be too, I was just hoping people would also want a full day to explore this city and/or recover from hangovers afterward. :)

Incidentally, let me ask my next door neighbor if we can use the roof area for acoustic rehearsal. She'll PROBABLY be fine with it as long as we're not too loud, but it never hurts to ask first.

Just a reminder that this is Friday at 7 PM at my place. Since nobody at the baseball game tonight knew about this I have reason to be concerned that this is a general trend.

I'm not sure why there's so much confusion about it; it's been up here ever since it was announced, and hasn't changed.

I'll be there, at least.

I know, right?

Anyway, this morning I bought a bunch of hot dogs and burgers and bacon (so we can make bacondogs and bacon cheeseburgers and whatever) and I also have some sausages and so on too. Also veggie burgers for those who are so inclined. I might run out of buns but if so we can always make a Safeway run (it's just a couple blocks away).
