If someone can just give me a general area of where it might be nice to stay... you know, where the night life is and all that so we can meet up and get hammered. I never been to Seattle.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

I'm looking at a room via AirBnB that's on 49th Ave. Sounds pretty residential, near the water and a bus stop. How's the general location for access to our possible venues?

Noah - you'll need to be more specific - Seattle has a quadrant based grid system. There's a 49th Ave NE and a 49th Ave NW, and I'm pretty sure there's a 49th Ave S somewhere as well...and they're all very far apart.

I'll write something up this weekend to summarize the major neighborhoods that people might consider staying in. You know, if this cold or my attempts at Fat Man don't kill me before then.

For security purposes, AirBnB is a little non-specific, but... Seward Park? Definitely near Genesee Park.

This from last time out: http://www.songfight.org/sfww/accomodations.htm

Most of them still in business. I will create a page and update this soon. One of the venues is likely to be in Fremont...

OK...near Genesee Park would be 49th Ave S. Pretty decent neighborhood, but the convenient buses to there apparently stop running at 9PM. It looks like that would be about a mile walk to Rainer Ave, where you can catch a Number 7 bus until the wee hours of the morning. However, I've heard horror stories about the number 7...

I think the biggest problem anyone will face when outside of the big neighborhoods (Downtown, Capitol Hill, U-District, Fremont, Ballard, Pioneer Square, Queen Anne, Beacon Hill) is that bus service tends to stop early. I'm lucky - I live in a reasonably far-flung neighborhood at the north end of Seattle, but I can catch a bus from downtown as late as 1:10 AM. It's still not late enough to close down the bars, but I'm not completely out of luck for cheap ways to get home on drinking nights.

So, then, not so much. There's plenty of availability, so I'll keep looking.

On a completely unrelated matter, looks like Google+ could do a lot to help us broadcast a live feed of the performances and archive them:

My vacation time is booked. Now to figure out what to do for travel and lodging. I don't suppose any of the various Octothorpe members would be willing to put me up for a week?

Audio quality in Hangouts is pretty poor, still. Great for discussions, not so for music performances. But I haven't tried the on-air broadcasts, so maybe tonight we can do some experiments...

Oh, and I'm going to have to pack relatively light, but if I need to bring a cheap mixerboard to make things easier or any other equipment... I also have a HD camcorder and tripod I can probably get through security.

Not that I particularly want to haul anything like that across the country, but I'll do it for my SF bros.

I'm not sure i can make it, but if I do I will bring an HD camcorder. Maybe I'll send it with Ken if I don't go. Anyway, if we get a good soundboard mix and multiple HD angles, we could have ourselves a mighty fine concert video! I'd love to edit together the multiple angles! Soundboard mix would be sweet too. The worst part of the videos I've shot at these things is the audio.

I can bring my Flip video cameras for a couple of angles. Not sure they can store the whole show though...

It's a great feeling to have airline tix.

Where are folks staying? I should have a car, and I'm good with cheap hotels. Do we know the venue(s) yet?

Which is to say, I'd rather pay $250 than $500. Anyone enlightened enough to share a room?
