Song Fight! Live 2014: August 15/16 - Sign Up for a Set

Post by jb »

Song Fight! Live 2014
When: August 15 and 16
Where: 7DL Studios
http://7drumlessons.com
2008 8th Street NW, Washington, DC 20001

Schedule for each day:
  • Rehearsal: Noonish to 6:00
    Rock Concert: 7:00 to 9:00
    Acoustic After Hours: 9:00 - 11:00
THIS YEAR'S LIVE FIGHT IS ACOUSTIC ONLY.
So strip those arrangements down and don't think your songcraft is going to skate by on a mess of guitar effects and other shit. There will be a keyboard, but no drums or electric guitars allowed.

Post-Show Beer and Food is right next door: http://www.dunyadc.com/
There are many other options in the area, this is called the "U Street Corridor" and is very near the famous "9:30 Club".

Post your slot prefs in this thread. I need to know:
1. What day you want
2. Whether you want to play the rock portion or the acoustic portion of that night
3. If you want to play for less than a half hour, let me know that. Set lengths will be determined by the number of participants.

I'll do my best to craft an interestingly varied lineup-- you can help by giving me enough information to work with. Thanks in advance!

Also with cello accompaniment since like all my songs have cello now.

I'm in, I'm ok for either day, and I'm trying a rock set this year.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Saturday night, acoustic, for Merisan. And we'll be playing for less than 30 minutes. We're not 100% sure we can make it but we're going to try.

Whoops, for me it was showing up in the Nur Ein forum, but I didn't see an unread post in the Song Fight Live! subforum.

Anyway, I'm probably in, but I'm not sure which day yet. I'll get back to you over the weekend, probably.

Should be all right. The deal is that he has a sound curfew after 9:00, and though the room is soundproofed, we don't want to cause the space an issue.

That said, it's a small room, so during an acoustic set there's no danger of not hearing a performance-- even if we weren't using amps.

For those of you who were there, think of "After Hours Acoustic" kind of like the second night of Song Fight Live! NYC.

The venue is a place that is primarily a place to learn how to play drums, so... probably?

I'm fine with doing drums for folks in my usual shit-tastic way.

Fitzroy will unfortunately only be able to attend on the 15th due to a family vacation the next day. We would like a set during the electric portion on the 15th. We may play a mix of fitzroy and bad boys at bat mitzvahs songs... It hasn't really been decided yet.

Hi!

I will be there. It might be fun to play an acoustic set. Either night is fine by me.

I certainally will be there....if I can arrange my schedule. Usually, I know about a month in advance. Can I be penciled in for an acoustic set of approx 30 mins, both nights, different songs? thx

Set length will be determined by number of participants. I'll certainly put you down tentatively for at least one acoustic set.

Remember-- the point here is to play your songfight songs (Nur Ein or Sidefight covers are also fine). Not any ol' song you've ever written.

If Ken is going, I think we need a Cutie Pies reunion. It's nine years since our first song (OH GOD WE ARE OLD).
