I have booked my vacation, for Wed 12-Tue 18. (But my work is flexible and I can change that any time.)
Right now I'm thinking I'll take BoltBus down and bring my electric cello and some recording gear. If we really, really need a digital piano and are absolutely desperate for drums I could rent a car and bring down my stage piano and Spud's drum kit but I'd really rather not have to drive.
Anyway, no matter what I will definitely be bringing at least one cello.
What about other folks from Seattle? Spud? Chumpy? ... anyone else?
Still keen on dragging my own guitar over -but will need to make travel arrangements for Marty (the Martin).
He has a hard case - one of those moulded plastic jobbies with a thin aluminium strip where the clips are. But it has no lock on it - and I don't want some baggage handler whipping Marty out and going Hendrix on me. And I wouldn't mind attaching a strap of some sort so I can carry it over my shoulder and keep my hands free.
Anyone ever done any modifications to this type of case? Attaching some lugs for a padlock should be simple enough. But a bit worried that if I go drilling some strap holders into it, I may destroy the integrity of the shell, and it will crack or fall apart.
If you attach a lock, the TSA will break it. If you attach a TSA-friendly lock, the TSA will still open it. And it's not the baggage handlers you have to worry about - they care about keeping their jobs.
So, I'm taking BoltBus down, and Spud has said he can probably bring my electric cello. So we're covered on the cello front.
BoltBus's luggage restrictions are pretty restrictive, so anything I bring will have to be able to fit into my backpack or suitcase. Which means I'll probably just bring recording gear (Firestudio, some mics, plenty of cables). I can also bring a 3G iPad to provide connectivity for streaming, in case there's no WiFi.
I think the only open question in my lineup is who's gonna play piano and drums for me.
Well that and my setlist, which will probably be affected by lineup.
I'm not sure if I missed it, but do we have a practice space lined up? I'm thinking that my set is going to be a three-piece garage punk set (getting back to my roots), but we'll have to practice at some point.

Song 1: Me on piano and vox with a backup singer I am bringing with me.
Song 2. Me on piano and vox with fluffy on drums.
Song 3. Me on bass with fluffy on guitar and an as-yet unidentified volunteer on drums.
We won't be getting in until Friday afternoon, so there is no time to practice. You must be familiar with the repertoire.
