Anyone planning on attending the Women's March on Washington, or one of the affiliated local marches?
My wife and I considered traveling to Washington, but instead we are planning to march in Madison, Wisconsin with our tiny baby.
I don't know if, in future years, people will look back on this as a "were you there?" moment or not, but it sort of feels like it right now.

We're thinking about going to the Oakland one. Not sure yet if we can make it though.

Aw man. Sounds like a good group, wish we could all be together. We've changed plans and are going to try to write our song for Jonathan Mann's "100 Songs for 100 Senators" project.

I went to the Oakland march after all. Huge turnout, easily several 10s of 1000s. Reports are 60000, which I can believe. That's 500 people walking by one point in the march route every minute for 2 hours, which matches up with what I saw. Even though I managed to get ahead of the march, by the time I got to the rally at the end it was already too crowded for me to be able to see the stage or hear the speakers, unfortunately. I definitely felt recharged in a very positive way to see the turnout though.

Moda Magazine, a University of Wisconsin life and style publication, published a collection of images and quotes from the Women's March on Madison:

If you scroll way way way down, you'll find me third from the bottom saying something inarticulate about fighting for a better future for my kid.

As you may know, I'm European; watching the rise of this narcissist, Machiavellian character and his "fans" from the outside was really bizarre for me, yet not entirely unpredictable, as here in Europe, last year brought us Brexit plus an increasing influence of right wing populist parties, not only in Britain, but all over the continent as well.
In my own country, Austria, we just had our presidential election in December and just barely escaped the horror of five years under a racist, nationalist, Islamophobic president (who, in fact, is a big admirer of Trump). You'd think Austrians would have learned something from that one guy born in this very country over a hundred years ago who went on to kill 11 million people... well, this seems to prove otherwise, doesn't it?
Seeing all of this makes me worry, of course, but then, looking at these amazing protests helps me not to lose hope.
All the best regards from Austria, to all of you Americans. Stay strong!

On 1/19/2019 the Women's March happens again.
If you want to come to DC for this, let me know.
You can march with us, if you'd like to, and I'll help you find some place to stay.
