Merry Christmas Songfight!

Hey everyone! How's things. Life has been crazy busy lately. But Songfight always has a place in my heart. And now that my band has a place where we can record on a regular basis, maybe I'll be visiting more again. (Plus it'll be Nur Ein time soon anyways).

Much love to everyone from Brookes and I. Hope you have a merry merry.

Merry Christmas all!

So far for music gear I got a Volca Keys, a Bluetooth midi controller, some Hot Rods, and weirdest of all, an accessory for my SpiderCapo that makes it so you can fret the string lightly to produce harmonics, instead of fully fretting it.

Anyway, hope those of you that participate in the whole Christmas thing have a good one and that you get some fun gear.

Merry Christmas, Song Fight.

I have eaten too much. But I feel like I will probably eat more.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

gear (short story): I got a Modern Player S/S/H tele (made in china) that I've fallen in love.

(longer story): So, I've been visiting Show Me Guitars (southside, CoMo) this past year and have become pretty good friends with one of the owners (Edwin.) I was going in every day for three or four days looking at this tele. Then shit happened and I didn't go in for a week and couldn't decide if I should spend money on something that was definitely not needed. I show back up and in the course of an hour visit or so Ed tells me he sold the guitar. No biggie, I said. I figured someone would grab it up. Fast forward to last night and that devil sold it to my wife (and knew it the whole time.) This thing is a beast. It rocks, it twangs, it does a little bit of everything. Not sure how much I'll use the coil split on the humbucker, but it's cool to have that extra tonal option.

On top of that I've seen most of my family. So it's been a great holiday for me. I surely hope it's been as good for everyone else.

Happy Christmas! Im on break at the state psych hospital where I work. Nothing like a holiday with nuts.

Pig: Congrats on the guitfiddle. Spank that Tele up!

Lunk: I think it was you some time ago that posted that spider capo here. Didn't know you got it though. Fascinating, but too smart for me. Please point out when you use it, definitely interested.

I feel guilty writing here, I've been slacking on the review dept. But had a moment so wishing you all the best, even if it's late in the day. Cheers!

Ha, yeah, it's a bit hard for me to wrap my brain around too. Here's a track where I used it, from Fun-A-Day last year:

Here's one from Fun-A-Day 2017:

SpiderCapo fans recommend using at least two of them at once even. WTF?!?! And now this harmonics thing, this is getting almost too complicated, I might as well go back to trying to figure out the pedal steel. ;)

It was a very pedal filled Xmas at the LWRG household and our bassist got a Theremin. So 2019 is bound to get weird.

Mmm...pedals...looking forward to hearing them, Niv.

Lunk: Those songs sound great, I can hear what and how you're doing, although I probably couldn't tell you where the capo was and how set. I can also understand why someone might use two, but man, beyond my abilties to figure out.

Ah, yes. Pedal steel. I think that's what's in that dusty case behind my guitar rack.

Howdy. A few weeks ago I gave up on the freelancer life and got a full time job at an HIV research lab, helping them to make their software not so terrible. It is challenging.

Also had some really bad holiday-related blowups with my parents. So this Christmas wasn’t a very good one for me. But I’ll survive as I always have and I’m going to come out of it a better person, I hope.

@fluffy - Sorry to hear that your holiday season was less than stellar. I'm glad to see you've got an attitude of perseverance. Challenging can be tough... but it can also be rewarding. Wishing you and the rest of the SF community a better 2019.
