Congrat Rabid! Image

QOTD:
There are a lot of good ones I liked, but my favs are all con game movies like Ocean's 11, or Matchstick Men, etc, which you already know a twist is going to happen, but you are trying to figure out what/how.
So the only one I can think of off the top of my head that really caught me off guard is "The Others"

Yeah, mine is a tie between Sixth Sense and The Usual Suspects. The key is that you MUST have no clue what's going to happen. Memento, Fight Club, ESB (the movie, not the beer, though that's good too) and Seven too had great twisteroonies. As to "The Others", I did actually figure it out about 1/2 way to 2/3 of the way in. It was cool but I felt it could have been way better.

Come to think of it, you should be getting married right about now! Congrats my man! It's been around 12 years since we met, 12 years on Xmas when we first hooked up, and 8 years, 3 weeks, and 3 days since I tied the knot.

Advice? Run. Run like Hell. NO, no, just kiddin'! As long as you both understand the need for balance (between each other AND between the relationship and other shit), it'll be great.

This may be out in left field but the last 15 minutes of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - I hadn't read the book yet and I was hoping McMurphy would somehow get out of there with Chief Bromden...

i'd read cuckoos nest first, but yeah, if i hadn't, it would have been pretty unexpected.

while on the subject of nicholson, easy rider had a pretty twisted ending.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Rabid Garfunkle! Phil and I have been married 8 years, together for 11! It's been a wonderful ride and I can't wait for the rest!

QotD: I'd have to agree with the Usual Suspects and the Sixth Sense. I figured out the Others before the twist happened, but it was still a good movie.

Tomorrow we're taking the kids to the Minnesota State Fair! We're all so excited!

qotd: who Kaiser Soze is. most movie plot twists don't surprise me. that one did. (i presume several other people have already posted this. i was just driving for like 10 hours and, after that, learning how to handle stop-and-go traffic on steep hills with a stick shift. gimme a break.)

oh yeah, that was awesome too. also the twist at the end. (also untangling the clues to figure out who actually killed his wife. the clincher is only visible for literally three frames.)

Dedication would be if he posts and says, "SHE SAID I DO!....errr, SHE DOES! I'M ABOUT TO KISS HER!"

...yeah... yeah. You know, I was thinking the Crying Game, although it suffers in retrospect because it is so known. At the time though... wwhhhhoooaa.

...but the Prestige DID catch me off guard... creepy, and strangely realistic.

P.S. Congrats Rabid!

QOTD - I remember all the hullaballoo around the Crying Game, but have never actually seen it. .
Don't bother. This is another one that I just don't get. To me it was so painfully obvious from the get go. This is one of the few movies I've walked out on. It was so obvious to me that it took me a while to realize that other people weren't getting it... especially the ones on the screen. That movie was a waste of frickin' time. Welcome to the 20th century... 80 years too late.

Rabid is prolly spooning right now. :-)

Fluffy, I wish I was em effing SF right now. I'm in Tampa trying to stretch my Friday night so that it seems like I have a whole weekend ahead of me when in actuallity I am going to waste 3 hours on a football game and another 3 hours on band practice before I have to work 8 hours at my other job on Sunday before going back to work M-F at my full timer.

Really? I watched it four times in a row before I fully took it all in.

There are several possibilities here.

1. You really are a smart mother.
2. I am thick as a brick.
3. You didn't catch all the twists, but think you did.
