I can't believe no body has started one yet for today.

QotD: If you could get a famous singer/band to cover one of your songs. Which singer/band and which song would it be?

If I could put out something decent singing wise, I would love to have Green Day cover one of my songs. That would be sweet. Heck if I had the talent that's pretty much the kind of music I'd be putting out anyway. I guess out of the songs I have out right now that involve actual singing I'd pick Up All Night.

So anyway, if I get the motivation I'll be doing my At the Arcade song tonight. But I have 4 full minutes of music composed and I've waited till the last minute so I'm not totally sure I can do it. My usual songs are like 1:30 to 2:30 in length so 4 minutes is a lofty goal.
From spoken word to actual singing, I can screw up any style with style. :D

I would have Jack, Leaf, and their pals cover Skyline. Wait. They already did that. OK then, it's the Beastie Boys' turn.

I don't know if I'd subject my favorite artists to that kind of punishment.

drc: I did something innovative yesterday; you see, I am plagued by telemarketer calls, usually from the US. These are insidious things, too, as they sometimes block their caller ID, but usually I'll see 'Florida' or something. When I'm not home, my machine picks up and I get a pre-recorded message. When I *am* home, and I actually pick up, I noticed that these dialbots are voice actuated- the message will not start unless you say 'hello' or make a loud noise or whatever. I complained to my provider about it, but that's another story which I'll get into later.* Anyway, I got to thinking, these scumtards are paying long distance for these calls right? So I got another one last night, from Florida. I picked up, and set the phone in a quiet corner. After about 5 minutes, I heard a computer voice come on and give some shpiel about 'PRESS 1 TO TALK TO AN AGENT' or whatever. I left the phone off the hook all night. This morning, it was still connected, with a voice coming on every 30 seconds or so. Awesome! I left it off the hook and went to work. When I got back, still connected. Great! That's like an 18 hour call from Florida. I am making this my default behaviour with these shits, and I encourage you all to do the same. Even if they have calling plans at their spamcenters, for every phone line that's tied up, that's one less call they can make, right?

*The conversation went something like this: "Hi, I have a complaint to make- I have *never* given my phone number to untrusted parties, and yet I get between 10-15 marketing calls every week. This is a new number, it's unlisted, so.. what is going on?"
service agent: "Well, sir, we at Telus sell our customer's phone numbers and email addresses to third parties. Would you like to be removed from the list?"
Me: (after the inital shock of what she just said wore off) "So I guess the FUCKLOAD of VIAGRA AND ENLARGE YOUR PENIS SPAM IN MY INBOX IS YOUR FAULT TOO?!"
her: "Please, sir there's no need to swear.."
me: "What you're doing is HELL YES TAKE ME OFF THE LIST What you're doing is immoral and PROBABLY ILLEGAL"
her: "It's written right there in your service agreement, did you not read it?" (the very, very, microscopic fine print on the back of the last page, sure enough, yep. It's all there plain to see.)
I told her that if i get one more phone call/spam due to their fuckery, I would be cancelling my account and going to the competition (which I planned to do anyway... man, did this piss me off) and she replied "Well, we'll take you off the list immediately, but we can't guarantee that 3rd parties haven't resold your information already"

Can believe a phone company would do this? Neither did I. I'm looking into cable/voip right now. And the calls/spam continues. If you hear the word 'Telus' avoid them like the plague.

qotd: I'd like to hear Rone Rivendale cover Christpunchers' 'This is Fuck'.

Also they totally use VoIP services and so that call doesn't really cost them that much.

Ahh guys. I guess internet communication really does suck. I wasn't talking Beastie boys - it was a comment about how I would feel like a dick making my favorite artist cover one of my inferior songs.
