Adventureland for the TRS-80

Post by Jerkatorium »

Hey do you remember playing text adventures on a TRS-80? No of course you don't, because you were born after the Ottoman Empire dissolved. You've never known a time before the polio vaccine, before movies had sound, before Oklahoma gained US statehood (still a mistake, IMO).

But if, like me, you are as old as dirt and you played text adventures in the early 1980s, you might find these videos interesting: SongFight! cover art artist Bomberanian aka happy triangle, and Jerkatorium lyricist Breadbox aka Brian, both of them occasional Two Jerks One Vote podcast guests, have started a YouTube video series where Brian mostly-hands-off coaches his daughter Bomberanian through the Adventureland text adventure. It's fun and engrossing, it's a blast from the past, and Bomberanian adds some hilarious edits. They have posted two episodes so far. The videos are not short (around 40min each) but they're well worth the time. Check them out at:

Good news; I heard back from Breadbox and Bomberanian that they've started editing episode 3. I get the impression that it'll still take a while before they finish it, but I'll mention it here when they post it on YouTube.
