LucasArts is no more

Little kid Niv grew up playing the Eidolon. Grown up Niv's kids loved Lego Star Wars. I bonded with my soon-to-be mother in law over Grim Fandango. So many great games. I loved Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Maniac Mansion. It's a shame Disney decided to shut it down.

I interviewed at Lucas Online in 2008. They handle www.starwars.com. It was right before the release of "The Force Unleashed", and I got a quick tour through the offices including a walk through the Lucasarts area, where people were play testing the game. Lucas built a whole huge new campus in a park in San Francisco. I wonder what's going to happen to it? Maybe the remaining Lucas Film people will be enough to keep it open...

I kind of assumed that LucasArts would just be subsumed into Disney's video games division. Either they'll move a bunch of Disney people into that office space or they'll lease or sell it.
