While that sounds terrifying, it also sounds wonderful. I’ve only been once, to the big island, but it was amazing!iVeg wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2019 4:01 pmHawaii
Edit: Maui had 2 missing hikers in the past month. Amanda Eller went off trail from Makawao and was lost for 16 days. Kekai Mina hiked the Cross Above Wailuku [and fell?]. He was missing for about a week before they found his body.
I *USED TO* hike alone a lot. It's easy to get caught at sunset. It gets dark FAST. Elevation can change rapidly [ie Kaupo Gap on Hana side - 1000 foot drop.] A'a lava can be sharp. Wet rock can be slippery. Cinder rock can crumble. Cell phones can drain out looking for reception.
I was trying to have a little fun with it, though.
There can be only one.
I'm glad you had a good time! I keep writing massive long comments to say, "Yeah. I love it here, too."
Next time I Rick Roll, I'm either going to do it Island Reggae style, or go Foo Fighters.
