Good job again Bill on the quick post.

But let me be the first to whinge about the title/challenge...

I do prefer it when there remains a random unconnectedness between title and challenge - eg. After You/countermelody - no connection, and Fingers Crossed/backwards - no connection, which allows for a broad range of interprectations

But combined - Tired of Talking/one long sentence seems to have an unwelcome lyric-based specificity, corralling us down a particular pathway. And yes - I know that the object of the game is to try to avoid the obvious, so....I'll just shut up and go and write a song.

..and just to clarify - I do think "one sentence" is an excellent challenge - Fingers Crossed/one sentence and After You/one sentence would have both been absolutely fine.

Well, you're going to *hate* the rest of the title/challenges then, CR ;)

This is going to be a *short* song :^3

Also, does it have to be a grammatically correct sentence?

Feel free to vocalise all your commas and semi-colons in-track, if you're worried about it. It may not play to your advantage; but feel free.

I shall also attempt to write all my reviews in single sentences. A particular challenge for a witter-monkey like me.

Had to get my fawm-head on for this one. I'm away from my gear for 2 weeks so I rushed to get my round 2 done last night. In the event that I make it through round 2 I may have to forfeit in round 3.

Of course, if I do somehow survive then y'all are in trouble! Nur Ein!

To further clarify - if I write a lyric that consists of, say, two verses and three choruses or whatever which, together, form one contiguous sentence with a lot of brackets and subordinate clauses, then that still is one sentence, right? I like ridiculously long sentences. Ridiculously long means Sufjan Stevens song title kind of long.

If you can write in such a way that we believe that it's one sentence, then yeah, of course. Consider it a songwriting challenge. Make it work.

I wrote my song without seeing that. It was VERY short.

So, in addition to the one sentence ... can we include sentence fragments ... ? :P Interjections? Onomatopoeia? We're not doing that but in addition to trolling a little bit I'm actually curious about that.

It's not really what we had in mind; but looking at the wording - "Lyric consists of only one sentence" - I think fragments of the sentence re-used (as backing vox for instance) would fit, as long as all the fragments did come from the original sentence.

However if those fragments together then formed a new sentence in any way, it would not meet the challenge.

Intejerctions - no. That would be a new sentence. I can't see how Onomatopoeia would fit the challenge.

Conversely, I immediately thought of interjections when we brought up the challenge, so long as the interjections don't take a life of their own. Knowing how well I pay attention to lyrics, if you are solely relying on the lyrics to make this obvious then you might be out of luck.

Wrote a song. Tried to record a song. Studio is now flooded. Will possibly still make it in as we only have 36 more days of rain according to the biblical story. (And if I decide a) to move the necessary pieces of the studio elsewhere or b) it miraculously stops raining in the next... oh, five minutes or so.)

Edit: Was able to solve the flooding problem fairly easily before it got more than the floor of the music room wet. All good here.

In which case, don't forget to include this little tit-bit - "you're fucked anyway should I have previously made clear that I hate you and everything you stand for". :)

Woah Woah Woah. One sentence as in only one thought?

I thought we had to do a song about a judge that only administered one sentence as punishment, no matter the crime.

Non Optional Challenge: Lyric consists of only one sentence.
......
In case you need more specificity... the judges add: No limit on how long that sentence is; or the number of times it's repeated.

Vicky was tricky but not enough
When the police called her bluff
She skipped out on her cab fare
The judge had an idea to make things square

Ciconetti Said:
For the crime of cab fare theft
You must walk all 30 miles
Appreciate the cabbies work
Next time don’t be such a jerk

it was hard enough writing a song about a current event last year.

Sorry, folks. I started a fourth job this week and that killed the time I had to do this. All I have to submit are the insanely meta lyrics and the piano track that I was using for an A cappella arrangement, which I suppose is still pretty neat. So unless a few other people completely fail to submit something, that's it for me.
