Right, finally settled on a mix after repeatedly running back to make tweaks all day. My song is IN.

Good luck, Merisan! Your song is extremely pretty.

Enjoying the iVeg shadow too, your voice sounds really good on this one.

Has the Mandibles / Cavedwellers shadow actually been posted somewhere? I only see the lyrics.

That's a truly epic shadow collab! So much going on in there, I love the mandolin (?), the super-bassy vocal that comes in on some parts and the guitar solo but - most of all - the synth solo which is nuts, and really makes me grin. Great use of all of your voices.

Ha, another killer synth solo!

This one is a lot of fun, although as a Brit there is a certain F-word that briefly made me go "whaaaaaaaaaaaat?" until I remembered that it means something different in the US, haha.

Finalists!

Bravo! That's one of my favorite, actually probably my favorite Nur Ein final round. These two songs are awesome!

Merisan-
This feels like a great last song on an album. Like Rock and Roll Suicide (Ziggy Stardust) or Little Green Rosetta (Joe's Garage). I'm just saying the feel is perfect. Production wise, I'm dazzled. Everything sounds perfect and beautiful. I love how Erin seems to sing more passionately as the song progresses. All the tracks and stereo placement is a delight on headphones. Lyrics are are excellent. This is simply awesome! Great job!!!!

Vom Vorton-
I love the energy! This is super fun also. That chorus is killer! I think these lyrics are great also. I dig the Dancin with Myself breakdown/solo. The rhythm guitar and drum interplay in the verses is very cool. I'm bobbing my head. Great song!

I can't call the winner. Epic battle.

Shadows.....

Inflatable Vegetables- You're singing much like Brian Eno on this one. I'm loving it. Vocal delivery like "Burning Airlines Give You So Much More". I love the big phat synth riff. Cool song!

glennny- This is me. I was hoping to get some baritone sax on this one, my sax playing friend did not have time. It's silly and maybe fun.

Mandibles vs. Cavedwellers- Those Mandibles can sure sing! This was fun to mix and produce, and solo on :)

Fixed and updated the link. This is what happens when I'm the one who edits. You should all lobby for Ben to edit.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Cool episode guys! Thanks for the kind words!

one thing, it's not just you guys, almost everyone hears my Mandolin, and says how much they like the Uke on the song. They are the same register, but chances are if it sounds like steel strings it's a mandolin, and nylon its a Uke.

Good call on saving the Mandibles / Cavedwellers track for last, it's such a lighters-in-the-air, last-dance-at-the-apocalypse-ball track.

Sorry my song didn't work as well for you guys this week! I did struggle a bit to get this one together, my first few attempts at coming up with song ideas were unspeakably miserable due to the combination of the title and the torrent of inescapable terrible world news and I kept bumming myself out with what I wrote. In the end I decided to go for the cheerful option and... write a song about nuclear apocalypse. I'm really happy with the end result though and hopefully I'm still in with a shot. I kinda expected the final Merisan song to blow me out of the water to be honest but while it's incredibly well performed and produced, I do really miss the synths. But whoever wins, these are the best eight songs I've written in a long time, and this competition was a total blast.

I felt bad for being critical with only the two of you left, but it comes with the bubbly gushing of the other weeks. Nothing to be ashamed of, it's a good song and the votes are still out. The last round is really a curveball when you've had 7 weeks to get into the mode of leaning-into the challenge and wacko titles.

Thank you! :D

That was basically our goal. I was telling the guys- when mapping this out, I was feeling an amalgamation of Bowie’s five years (and Rock n Roll suicide), Gaga’s Edge of glory, and Ravel’s bolero, all heavily seasoned with Journey.

I should put up all the Nur Ein ID's from over the years if people want to listen to them. Always looking for new ones! Paco del Stinko did the theme song as well as a dozen or so drops.
Here's a temp link for now. Probably won't be up for long, but knock yourself out. I'm sure I've missed some, but here's a batch of them. I'll make sure the Nur Ein Theme is in the folder.

I see you found the 'Ohne Ruhm' thread where the shadow songs were.
