Nur Ein XV

Post by Niveous »

Hey everyone.

This isn't the usual starting gun for the competition. Then again, these aren't usual times. I've spoken to a couple of folks lately and I've been asked when is the next Nur Ein gonna start. So, I approach everyone with the question... Should it be sooner or the usual? There are a lot of folks in quarantine and that may mean some extra time on their hands and Nur Ein could be a wonderful little diversion. I say that with a drop of hesitancy because Nur Ein is also a monster, a time devouring stress beast that sometimes eats even the best of us. On the other hand, Nur Ein happens because it is a creative kick in the ass and some people may want that right now.

I turn to you community. You want Nur Ein sooner or later?

I personally don't have any more time on my hands than I did before. If anything it feels like I have less somehow. The idea of piling on the stress of Nur Ein feels pretty terrifying to me right now. But I'd happily listen in. It's amazing how much great music comes out of that crucible. I'd maybe judge if there's a need for judges...?

This. I’d podcast and judge but I don’t think I can make music. I’d consider it if the format/schedule were altered but then it probably wouldn’t be Nur Ein.

I was planning to offer my services as judge for this one because writing sixteen songs for the last two totally broke me, but if Nur Ein needs songs then GOD HELP ME I will write some

Either or for me. Happy to go sooner. I am also essentially unaffected as I still go to work every day.

Nur Ein is the one bright spot of this mess. I had planned to be cycling through Tuscany this May. And after my early exit to NE last year - thinking I could record a song in a Paris hotel stairwell after a 24 hour flight - travel and NE obviously don’t go together. So if Italy is off - bring on NE

I'm all set for the Listening Parties - have to check with Al if we're writing songs again this one. Then again, it's been 9 years in a row, so I'd hate to drop the streak before 10.

Hmmmmm. Makes no difference to me, but at least knowing it's an option is always fun. Not like I can spend my weekends visiting relatives or doing much else.

We're thinking about doing a Round 2 of the GoM COVID-19 fight, so if Nur Ein is happening soon we'd probably hold off.

Either way works, I’m just counting down the days. That swift kick in the creative ass is what I’m looking forward to most. If it’s later, I might do another side fight.

Okay, so when is this happening? Or is it canceled like everything else in this godforsaken world!?

Obviously not early but on normal time?

Looking at past years it seems like it's going to actually start late this year now.

Okay folks. Let's start this up. Just need to get some judges lined up. Vowl Sounds has first priority.

Everyone start getting ready!

A few months ago Mo and I were talking about volunteering to be judges this year. Only officially speaking for myself at the moment, but I would gladly judge.

Okay. That's 3, potentially 4.
I'm not judging this year as my better half is determined to do some Lucky Witch Nur Ein, seeing as songs like "We Should" and "Never Knew The Guy" have become staples for the band.
