Easiest example of this one is "Pride (In The Name of Love)."

quick clarification ask:

Is the intention of the challenge that the "narratives" be established, pre-existing stories from at least 500 years apart, or if its ok if they are entirely or partially created specifically for this song? Just to be clear

The intention is to give perspective from at least two different time periods significantly apart and weave them into a coherent song. Whether it’s fictional or not doesn’t matter so long as you aren’t so off-the-rails that it’s not recognizable as being different time periods. The original suggestion we negotiated from was to write two verses, one in the year BC and one in the same year AC.

The original schedule had round 2 with 20 bands and 4 eliminations. But we had 3 eliminations last week and now there are only 17 so how many will make it to round 3? Sorry I know this is probably explained somewhere but I'm a bit slow.

Because of the lower number of entries, it's three eliminations every round. That's confirmed somewhere but I can't remember which thread it's in.

With there being only 20 entries in Round 0, the elimination schedule will be changed.

There will be 3 eliminations every round until the finals.

Round 1: 3 elims (17 remain)
Round 2: 3 elims (14 remain)
Round 3: 3 elims (11 remain)
Round 4: 3 elims (8 remain)
Round 5: 3 elims (5 remain)
Round 6: 3 elims (2 remain)
Final: 1 elim (Nur Ein)

NUR EIN.

Damn straight. I am in Friday morning and apart from a theme I am empty. I have no music. No melody. Nothing to hook my overly-complicated idea on.

dude, I'm almost as bad off. I have a chorus and an idea only. I wrote some verses but I am not even sure if I'm going to use them. melody and chords for chorus only. by this time last week I had a decent working demo

I'm on my third song idea, and third time feeling like scrapping it all and trying again.

I do have a set of lyrics I'm happy with, and some instrument tracks. I'm trying to create some robot vocals though and I've been through 2 or 3 methods and still trying to find something that sounds good. Garageband doesn't support any vocoder plugins apparently

Busting through that many song ideas is tough though! I generally stick with the first one just because I know I'll never finish it otherwise.

This happened to me in Nur Ein XV, Round 3, "Rear Window." I managed to salvage it into arguably my best recording ever up to that point. I believe in you!

Plus, I also scrapped two ideas and started over on Thursday. So I believe in me, too.

At least I have verse lyrics before 10:30pm Sunday this time!

Checking in to confirm that The Alleviators are also on roughly the third idea, but it seems like we're set now.

The second idea was a very Pink Floyd type thing that I like and might use somewhere else, but was probably going to end up too long to be wise for Nur Ein plus lyrics weren't really happening. The first idea was so bland I have already forgotten it.

Guys. This week I have discovered both pitch correction and the EQ plugin. You're all in for a treat.

ugh, I'm about to have a nervous breakdown! recorded 4 tracks before I realized fuvking Omni was out of tune! (yes, Omni can be tuned. it rarely needs it because the tuning knob is at the underside recessed in a little well, so it doesn't get turned by mistake, but sometimes with taking it in and out of my gig bag it gets turned.) this explains why my first song sounded a little off, pitch wise. I mean even aside from my singing, lol. so anyway I had to scrap what I'd done and start over. my demo from yesterday is unusable anyway bc it was just a test. might try to play real drums on this IF I can get the rest of it in some kind of decent shape.

I'm in! Way too many synths in this one, but my two eras are now and THE DISTANT FUTURE, so there had to be a lot of synths.

Good luck with your drums arby, and your omnichord tuning.

Night Sky is out. We didn’t manage to come up with anything I could turn into a song.
