Different airpoty {heello Sydney) = but the same Bundaberg Rum!

One more flight to newcastle - then to a night of frivolity, mate-hugging and random scrum formations

Disaster area my arse - I haven't even got there yet. I'll give you bastards disaster area... Newcastle has gone soft since I've been away. In my day - we withstood freaking earthquakes - but it didn't stop us

Congrats to the top 6. I'll be following future rounds closely and look forward to voting in round 7.

Bummer to be sailing away from Nur Ein! Island once again. I thought I had a decent shot at making this cut, but...such is the way with so many strong songs.

Nur Ein! is awesome. Thanks Niv for running it, thanks judges, and thanks fellow Einers! I found that after last year I always paid a little more attention to the fighters that had been through the Ein! with me.

I'm looking forward to next year already.

Good luck all!! - see you in Songfight! proper.

Hooray for Abominominous! I was not surprised to see myself go, but a bit at Mr. Durand's departure. Regardless, I am psyched to have made it this far, standing in the same room with some of SongFight's best. (Maybe I can't stand as tall, I'm still thrilled) Here's my best to all the rest, hoping for some thrills in the remaining rounds. Thanks to Niveous and the judges as well - good work gang. See you next year!

I too am very surprised to see Ross Durand go on this round, but all the songs were sooooooo good! Actually upon 1st listen to the songs I was pretty sure we were done, although I still really love our entry.

I suppose there's some kind of guitarist street cred for getting eliminated on this challenge?

I have to give a major nod of being impressed to Merisan and especially Lunkhead for overcoming this challenge tremendously!

I'm sad to go, but totally agree with the decision.

Hey now I can hit Ken up for some production and drums :)

Great job everyone! I'll be following the rest closely!

BTW I'd pretty much like to collab with everyone of you sometime in the future! Feel free to hit me up!

Wow! I live to fight another round. I'm not being modest here, but I honestly thought this was it for me this time. Bewells was a given because he didn't make it on time, but I personally have been enjoying Ross, Paco and TGFF's songs all week and although I liked my song, I felt they all 3 did a better job than I did. I guess I owe Steve a big thank you for saving me with his awesomeness.
NUR EIN!

Congrats Phil, your tune kicked ass.

No bass or drums this time. :? Let the good times roll.

Wow, another set of surprising results. We thought we might be eliminated this time, and I didn't really think Ross or Thanks Glennny would be eliminated. Congrats to Abom! Sorry to see Ross, Andy, Paco, and Thanks Glennny go. Now to see if we can muster the strength to get another song in...

Here are my reviews:

Abominominous - Great drums and strings. Lyrics also very good. I'm really enjoying the drums on this track.

Billy's Little Trip - Neat intro. Drums sound great when they come in. I don't miss the guitars at all on this track. Good job.

Bovine Recyclery - Great bounce on this song. Good use of chimes.

Frankie Big Face - I'm glad you used piano. Unfortunately, this sounds kind of like a demo to me. Just not enough going on.

Merisan - Excellent intro pad. Very well produced. Vocals sounds especially good this week. Wow. Good job guys!

Paco Del Stinko - Something very Danny Elfman about this track. I'm not enjoying the vocals though.

Puce - Good programming. I'm not really getting caught up in the vocals though.

Ross - I'm a little disappointed that you replaced strummed guitar with strummed dulcimer. I think you could have left that out and filled in the space with organ or left it empty and this still would have been a good song.

Tex B&DH - Nice bongo track. I'm really enjoying it. Something about the 'Shake It' refrain makes me think you are going to submit this to Songfight proper as well. I like that you tell a story in this song. Nice dub elements as well.

Thank Glenny for the Frisbee - You know, you could have gone a lot simpler on this track and it would have been a lot better. Think Minty Handy. There is just too much stuff going on and it doesn't really fit together.
Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff - Berkeley Social Scene - Tiny Robots - Seamus Collective - Semolina Pilchards - Cutie Pies - Explino! - Bravo Bros. - 2 from 14 - and more!

i would just like to remind everyone that Ken eats kittens - blue lang

I don't pay much attention to who gets eliminated, but this time I'm really sad to see everyone go. Good work all!

 I scrape in yet again! At least this year I have things the right way around. Last year I did good songs in the first 2 rounds - then they got progressively weaker. This year I started with some pretty crappy stuff - but at least I feel my songs are getting progressively better each week.

I like the challenge this week (except the no bass bit). Due to recording time constraints - I was planning to go the GnG route anyway

Atta boy, Tex! Go get'em!

Ken - Thanks for the straight-up comments. That's not the first time some of you left coasters have made Danny Elfman references towards me and that makes me go hmmm. Regarding vocals: trust me, I'd love to play the grade 'D' Jimmy Page with my own Bob Planet to do gymnastics for me. Thanks for roughing it out, though. :)

Thanks for posting reviews, Ken. As I said in my reply to Erin, I didn't just jump in on dulcimer, but it ended up being the best choice for the song, I think. Besides, the Ein! master had clearly said that other strumming instruments were no problem.

Niv, will individual judge rankings be posted?

You and me both. I had a really hard time with this title. I rejected probably four ideas before finally settling on this one. I was trying to get ready to travel to Spain (where I am right now, in fact) and had only a few hours to record. Reallly didn´t know if I´d make the cut--pleasantly surprised. I appreciate your honest feedback, Ken.
