Yeah, it's a '57 Strat. Family legend is that it was owned by the guy who played on the Lawrence Welk show and they made him get rid of it. Somebody played the heck out of it between '57 and '64, when my dad bought it, because it spent most of the next 30 years under the bed being played only a few times a year. When he passed away in '91, it came to me. When I took it to get set up several years ago, we determined that it had already been refinished by the time my dad got it and the frets were worn down enough that we decided to do a refret and refinish on the neck, just go for "playable" since it wasn't 100% original anyway. It plays really nicely It's recorded through a Pod XT.Ross wrote:KA - damn great geetar, what do you play again? Is that a strat? Why did you think everyone would use gocart? It’s a great rhyme. The Fred Astaire line is also great. Very catchy and fun.

2. No.
3. I don't know, but I assume Niveous will start a new thread for the round, possibly even a pre-fight thread followed by a thread for the songs/reviews at the close of the round, etc.
My comment about your tiredeness was not meant to be a criticism - just a reference. I'm totally on your side on that issue.Hoblit wrote:OK OK..I'm a big baby..
I'm just sayin' I could have gotten more sleep between a full work week, two gigs with my band, and squeezing in a nur ein song.
NOTE: I do actually name drop Angelina Jolie (and Sheryl Crow, but she's not exactly and actress) in addition to saying "famous friends".
Yeah, I totally agree with you. A name drop isn't just splicing in a name, it is stating a name in relation to your social network to gain recognition with whom you are speaking. That was the only part I found hard, I could easily name celebrity activists but tying them to the 'college goer' perspective of my first person character was the most difficult. Somehow turning them into the 'famous friends' line was weak but effective none the less. THANKS for listening and commenting, I do appreciate that!Ross wrote:My comment about your tiredeness was not meant to be a criticism - just a reference. "famous friends".
... but to me, it's not aname drop till you oconnet yourself to the fame, which you do with the line "Famous Frinds"

No she's not... and I'm not sure why I'm usually pretty vague... it's a hurdle I can't get over all the time, but I agree it would be much better if the listener understood what I'm talking about and who she is...frankie big face wrote:Cock - Hey, I used bass drum in my song too! Is Bella Darvi a household name? I had to look her up to find out what was so tragic about her. I don't think that's necessarily a good thing. Although I can appreciate vague-by-design lyrics (despite not being able to actually write them), I think letting the listener in on the song a bit more would help a lot.
Thanks, I'm not at all sure that I "trust" a simple structure, more so than all I ever can create is a simple structure... My brain doesn't let me do anything else... heh.Ross wrote:Cock - I like the backing tracks on this one. I also like that you trust a simple structure, sometimes I wish I did.

Not sure if it accounts for it, but I've started using a slew of new VSTs I found via the Free VST thread, and I recorded the guitar with my SM57 instead of my Equitek like I used to do.Ross wrote:Have you changed something in your recording set-up?This sounds different than other recent stuff, I think, or am i wrong?
