Dude it's a score. Every 3rd track (almost) are these creepy mnemonic sentences. Things like:
"Tuesday... Mardes... Imagine, you only burn martyrs on tuesdays!"
or "Wine is.. Vino. Imagine a German saying 'Ve know vat a good wine it is!'"
or "The spanish for 'I speak' is... Hablo. Imagine, I blow...[it's an uncomfortable pause]... when I speak."

[...]
SO, however, that "i do not intend to understand" bit is actually not my genius. Theirs.
Ohhhh, I get it! And then "Entiendo" sounds like the English "Intend."

Wow.

That just sounded like so weird a sentence that I figured you must have spliced it together.

Yep, the sentences alone without the spanish seem exceptionally clever. When they lay the spanish out for you before hand they just seem stupid as balls. I kinda hoped people would hear that and understand that bit's little "micro lesson" without it necessarily being spanish lesson - it can fit too just as a lyrical idea. Again though, not trying to deceive. I just found stuff! My song is largely sampled too.

I'm back from vacation! Lyrics posted, belatedly. Much relaxed and refreshed and ready to go for round 3, which of course guarantees I won't be in it. Heh.
(From a review of Denni)... it's like I'm listening to one of Edison's wax cylinders.
Is "Edison's Wax Cylinder" the name of a band? It totally needs to be. Or maybe "Edison's Cylinder Wax".
Damn, I'd love to see you live.
What a nice thing to read! Especially since I'll be playing (with J$ et al) in Long Beach in a few weeks. At which point the truth will come out: you're not missing much when it comes to me live.
The vocals are a little too hot. There's clearly something that you normally do to treat your own voice, and that's not being done here.
Yeah, time constraints there, but oddly I'm doing the same ProTools settings I've been using for all my Nur Ein entries so far. Which is a lot more than I did pre-Nur Ein, which was nothing. I think perhaps the rest of the mix has been supporting my voice's weaknesses down low, and I didn't get that benefit this time 'round.
Mixing vocals is one of the weaker links in my chain...
Same here. During my trip, I spent an hour at Barnes & Noble reading up on how to record vocals (and set digital levels) properly, so let's see if I survive this round and put the new knowledge to good use.

I've been trying to figure out a way to make that show, but to no avail. Hence the wistfulness.

Here is how I would rank them if I were a judge:

1. Rabid Garfunkel - Damn Rabs! You are churning out some great stuff in this comp!

2. Billy's Little Trip - This is loud and dumb. Nothing wrong with that.

3. Minty Handy - Nice performance, good song

4. Berkeley Social Scene - Love the story and dialogue. Good vocals - both M and F. (Is that Sam doing the male vox? I've forgotten who BSS actually consists of)

5. Boop Boop - Almost lost me on the long intro - but when it kicks in it's great.

6. DJ Ranger Den - Good delivery. Very entertaining. Guitar in the chorus could be a bit tighter

7. Therman - I had put this way down the list - until the breakdown. I liked the 2nd half much more than the 1st half.

8. Jon Eric - Good vocal delivery, though you do sound to be straining a little at times. Story not really grabbing me. Its probably a geographical thing.

9. Chris Cogott - Polished as usual, but not really grabbing me

10. Milo Dunderville - Very good lyrics as we have come to expect. I don't like the delivery. Personal bias. Reminds me of Billy Joel or Randy Newman. I don't really want to be reminded of either of those people.

11. The Real Sign - I really love the lyrics. Vox hard to hear and a pitch is occaisionally a bit dubious

12. Naked Philosophy - Not bad, but reaches no great heights

13. Hoglen and Wages - Like the guitar. Lyrics not doing much for me. Duel vox could be tightened. Chorus is a bit of a let down.

14. Who Fly - I am very exited when this starts, it sounds great. But it goes on with not quite enough variation. A very good idea that suffers a bit in the execution

I expect Sid to end up somewhere in the danger zone, but hopefully hanging on. It was a rushed job, and that shows in the recording, but I like the song. On re-listening, it may benefit by going into a 3rd verse after the go faster bit. I didn't think of that at the time.

Where's BLT with the little BIG hearts icon?

Thx, yo.

<--- And my little dog thanks you, too.

BTW, I think that's the first list I've topped, anywhere, ever (of good things, anyway  ). Here's hoping I make it up to the middle third (hell, it's getting a bit too comfortable down here in the bottom of the bottom third  Can't afford to start paying rent).

I don't have complete information, but again I've been told enough that I'm not going to stay up waiting on the results. Goodnight, and I'll see (most of) you in round 3!

I'd sig this if it wasn't so weirdly arranged on the intro.

It's going on my list of band names. The list of band names is huge and massive and also comprehensive. I've been compiling it for a long time.

Still working up those reviews. I auditioned for a band this week and have been working on a couple other projects so it's slow going! Eek! Things are sounding really spiffy though.
