Nur Ein VII

Post by Niveous »

Welcome to the 7th edition of Songfight's spring challenge, the Nur Ein!

Here's how it all works:

The Nur Ein is a 8 round song competition. In each round, the participants are given a song title and a mandatory challenge and are given 5 days in which to finish that song. Then this year's group of 5 Nur Ein Judges (including last year's champion Paco del Stinko) will listen to songs and rate them from best to worst. Each round whittles down the field until we are left with only 1 competitor. Creativity x Skill x Time Management = Nur Ein!

This year's Nur Ein will start on April 18th with Round Zero. Round Zero is open to all who wish to take on the Nur Ein. The participants will have until Monday April 23rd at 12:01AM
(Eastern) to create a song from the title and complete the challenge. When a competitor completes a song, it is to be e-mailed to nurein.sidefight which is a gmail. The songs will then be posted at the Nur Ein website (nurein.songfight.net). On the 23rd & 24th, the Judges will make their decisions and on the 24th, the judges will cut down the field to 25. Then the next title and challenge is announced and the cycle begins again.

Here's the schedule:

Round 0:
April 18-22
Judging April 23-24
X bands, X-25 eliminations

Round 1:
April 25-29
Judging April 30 - May 1
25 bands, 5 eliminations
Judges favorite gets immunity

Round 2:
May 2-6
Judging May 7-8
20 bands, 4 eliminations
Judges favorite gets immunity

Round 3:
May 9-13
Judging May 14-15
16 bands, 4 eliminations
Judges favorite gets immunity

Round 4:
May 16-20
Judging May 21-22
12 bands, 4 eliminations

Round 5:
May 23-27
Judging May 28-29
8 bands, 3 eliminations

Round 6:
May 30- June 3
Judging June 4-5
5 bands, 3 eliminations

Final Round:
June 6-10
Voting June 11-12
2 bands, 1 elimination

The final round is a battle between the two remaining competitors with the votes of the eliminated competitors and the Nur Ein Jury will choosing the winner.

The game is on. Nur Ein!

I've always dreamed of actually, you know, participating properly in Nur Ein, and this year's schedule is late enough in April to be plausible (May's wide open), but still...

Judging, on the other hand, I can totally swing. So, uh, yeah: *raises hand.* I'll volunteer.

Noah & Roy, you are in. So far, this year's judges are Paco del Stinko, Roymond, Noah McLaughlin and myself. We need one more.

Just the 5. No tiebreaker/alternate stuff. Sometimes less really is more.

Once again - I don't think I will be able to enter.

But my friends "Genevieve Johnson and the Unfulfilled Desire" are considering it.

I got my calendar marked. I'm saving up my energy.

Niv: I can probably also do the wiki updates again, or work out something fancier so it's easier for you to do.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.
