Ugh.....had reviews written, was almost finished and then my computer crashed. :-/

(It was Paco's song that broke my computer.)

Too lazy to start over so here's my ranking instead. If you really want my opinion, just ask and I'll write a review ESPECIALLY FOR YOU.

1 - Manhattan Glutton
2 - Merisan
3 - Carlo Bruno, Jr.
4 - Paco del Stinko
5 - The Tydon Docks
6 - Cavedwellers
7 - Ross Durand

Honestly, I can see the judges ranking these songs in almost any order. My low-ranked songs are the result of genre bias or nitpicks I have with vocal tone quality or lyrics or whatever. They're all pretty good. Although I didn't rank myself, I would put myself in the top five. At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm eliminated this week and I wouldn't be upset—there are some really good songs here.

Well, It's going to be interesting to see how this turns out. There are three song here I feel i should be able to beat, but I really don't have the judges totally figured out, so I really can't guess. I think it's a very strong round, and has been a generally strong Ein! For the most part, I guess I would say each of these songs seems to have succeeded at setting out what each of them meant to accomplish, if that makes any sense.

As for me, I'm proud of how my song turned out. I was thinking as I was recording that I felt obligated to turn in something good enough to justify my being in this round over those who were eliminated last round. Sort of an obligation to them to not turn in crap. I hope I accomplished that.

Fingers crossed.

Sadly, I don't think that's the first time that's happened around here. Sorry!

Yeah, he, Robot and oddly, Will Robinson made the show. And those weird creatures they'd run into as well. Good on your daughter, enjoying classic shlock!

Anyway, good tunes from all and good luck!

The first show we watched was the hour long pilot that had NO Dr Smith and NO robot!! It was awful. I can only imagine the show's makers begging after the pilot... "come on...give us another go...we can re-do it...camp it up a bit with a weird sort-of-evil-but-slightly-effeminate doctor, a wise-cracking robot and lots of green velour skivvies..trust us, it will be great!!!!". The rest is history.

Though my wife was qute disgusted by the blatant sexism in it, that we hadn't noticed 40 years ago. Basically Mrs Robinson and the women-folk just seem to spend all their time doing the dishes and looking worried - while Dad, his abnormally agressive off-sider and the 9-year-old boy go off fighting monsters.

Wow. Crazy. Going out in good company. Round five is crazy, two judges had me first (thanks judges 5 and 6) and I still went out. Well, two put me last...

Disappointed precedent was not followed. I believe in previous eins, in case of a tie for elimination, all tied parties were retained. I'm sure Frankie and I would understand if you wanted to reconsider :-)

Great Ein so far! Thanks Niv, thanks judges, thanks fellow musicians.

And to those still standing, make it count!

It is always a relief to finish.
Thank you linesmen. Thank you ballboys.

Glad I got this far. As far as I am concerned, this week was by far my best song of the competition, and probably the only one I will continue to play live. But then again - I didn't really deserve to get through with the rubbish I entered last week - so it all evens out.

Ross was shafted. Bad luck dude. I thought you would have been safe. Still - I put Merisan last, but they won overwhelmingly. These wacky judges really have some funny ideas don't they? Or is it just me?

Good luck to the remainders

That is a pretty cool scorecard - 2 firsts and 2 lasts.
I got 1 first and two lasts (thanks judge 1).

I think if you can straddle first and last - you are clearly doing something right.

Wow, this is completely bizarre and unexpected. I was preparing to be eliminated, especially after hearing the batch of really solid entries and reading our reviews.

Anyway, thanks to the judges, good job to everybody, good luck to the remaining competitors, and condolences to those eliminated.

Wow! I am a bit shocked at the results although experience should tell me not to be. Congrats to Merisan and I am sorry to see the huge group of talent go.

Any success I've had was from always being in the middle. Sometimes it pays to be average. ;)

Also, C-Ray: I think that when Dr. Smith and Robot first show up, they are quite sinister. If my TV watching as a kid memory is correct.

Yes. Dr Smith was very sinister. He gets camper as it goes on. Robot was a robot. He wasn't sinister. But he did develop human feelings later. That is always a worry when they do that.

I can hardly believe what I'm seeing. Is this the first time someone has been eliminated by judges immediately after winning a round?

It's actually happened a bunch, but it seems like only from Rounds 4 on, other than Glen's example.

Nur Ein VII

Ross Durand wins Round 6, gets eliminated in Round 7. (Does that count? It's the semifinal and final rounds, maybe a little different.)
ADD winds Round 5, gets eliminated in Round 6.

Nur Ein VI

Ross Durand wins Round 5, gets eliminated in Round 6.
frankie big face wins Round 4, gets eliminated in Round 5.

Nur Ein V

Minty Handy wins Round 5, gets eliminated in Round 6.
BSS wins Round 6, gets eliminated in Round 7.

Nur Ein II

Andrew Reist wins Round 6, gets eliminated in Round 7.

Nur Ein III

Ken Mahru wins Round 6, gets eliminated in Round 7.

Nur Ein II

Merisan wins Round 5, gets eliminated in Round 6.

In those later rounds, it really seems like anything can happen.

Mathe Ein would be:
"If the bands are close, your chance of being eliminated in round 5 = 37.5%, round 6 = 60%, and of course, round 7 = 50%."
It doesn't happen in the earlier rounds because the winner has immunity.

Nur Ein I, there was no immunity for winner of round 3. Ross had a 30% chance of being eliminated. He was.

[EDIT: The elimination was different in NE 1-3]

These aren't totally accurate but:
Won round 4 eliminated round 5 = 2 of 8 = 25% [less than est 37.5%]
Won round 5 eliminated round 6 = 4 of 7 = 57% [very close to 60%]
Won round 6 eliminated round 7 = 3 of 7 = 43% [close to 50%]

This would suggest that round 5 is still a little weak, that not all 8 [or 7] bands are of equal level.
Or if you're Frankie, winning round 4 = 50% chance of being eliminated round 5, 50% of winning the whole thing :)
