Re: Nur Ein VIII- Final Round

Post by carlo bruno jr »

I am very happy to be a finalist in Nur Ein VIII. During these weeks I've often thought I would be eliminated and I must thank the jury that their votes have brought me up here. With that, I have achieved my goal, which was to complete the whole cycle, so in some ways I consider myself as winner. Now, only remains to finish the cycle with the best I can give. Although I have no clue how to resolve it the final round, but I feel very motivated to deliver a good job. That's the plan will try to accomplish.

About Carlo Bruno Jr.:

I landed in SongFight in 2006, following a link from Glenn Case's page on MySpace or mp3.com, I can not remember. By reading as defined himself as a musician I identified immediately and went after him to reach SongFight. I'm still very big fan of Glenn and so and I have made known to him several times (I still think that he knows "the secret" I spent years chasing).

When I realized what it was SongFight could not believe it and then I decided to upload my first entries as Ray Negro. That cycle consisted of 3 tracks in a few weeks, and I remember fondly a second place with "Safety in Numbers" that tasted like heaven. In fact, that song still survives in my repertoire but with the text translated into Spanish.

Forcing myself to participate in SongFight was very important to me, since I got those entries did something I never thought that would not achieve: to finish a project. Since then I know I can do it and have continued to do so. Can imagine that I am indebted to all SongFight community, which today I can say that I feel a part.

Until those three appearances my home studio was just a massive pile of unfinished projects and ideas, which I disliked a lot. Once again, thank you. Since that, I started to see myself as songwritter.

I must also say that those three entries were my first experience as a singer. Until then I was very allergic to microphones for reasons that many of you have pointed me sometimes: genetics was stingy with me and gave me this voice, not very appropriate for a singer. Luckily, accumulating years and lose the shame has been the same thing.

Since 2006 I have regularly followed Songfight as a spectator, is why somehow already knew something almost all participants of Nur Ein VIII. Especially Paco and Ross, two names almost permanent in the SongFight regular competitions. In April, when I once again take a look at SongFight saw coming Nur Ein VIII, a competition in which I really wanted to participate, as already poses a greater challenge for me. Like right now I'm not involved in any collective musical project I saw it was a good time to immerse myself in this monumental mess. The rest of my SongFight story we just live together. I had a wonderful time in this competition, I really enjoyed working on my songs and listening to the other contenders, and learning from. I really appreciated every one of the reviews that you have done of my songs, from all I have learned and taken something positive.

To end this epic post  , I want to give my gratitude list: To Suzy Danger, my never loved enough wife , for his personal support, technician (she was who assisted me in recording vocal tracks), linguistic (correcting to where she can my disastrous English pronunciation) and artistic (vocals on All Hail the Snake and handclaps in Firestorm). To my daughter Valentina for their handclaps in Firestorm and constant questions about my progress in the competition. To my son Noé, because he has not been able to share our rock moments in the studio as much as we like them both. To Jose Montoro, my lifelong drummer and a brother for me, for giving me good advice and for letting me use his wonderful 1962's Pink Sparkle Rogers drumkit, a powerfull beuty. To Rebeca, for their fantastic support vocals and handclaps in Firestorm, a wonderfully great singer with whom I collaborate in the near future. To Paky and Bea for their "mamavoices" in All Hail The Snake and to Noelia for their handclaps in Firestorm. Also to all my friends who have followed the evolution of Carlo Bruno Jr. over these weeks, giving me their support.

I feel better musician now than before I started Nur Ein VIII. In my 46 years is very rewarding to feel that I'm growing as a musician and these weeks have been a giant injection of this medicine. Again, and all times as that are necessary, thanks.

My biggest regret is not being more active in the forums, write in English for me is a huge effort and I'm not sure to express clearly. I do not trust web translators, but for this post I used one (trying to modulate my Spanish writing to force the translator to not say nonsense, I hope).

This seems the post to end the competition, and in some ways it is, because to me, as I said earlier, the competition is over. This was like a marathon, especially I competed against myself and I have reached the goal. I face the final round as an exhibition match, I will try to show my best shots and I want my entry is a celebration rather than a confrontation with Paco.

Oh, shit! Almost 3 hours writing this. Should I be doing a song ....

Thank you for sharing that history, Carlo. Very interesting. I anticipate hearing your final song very much, I am a fan. And while we may be dueling for the win, it is all in good spirit and fun. I hope that you continue to submit music to SongFight! after NUR EIN!, and perhaps someday you'll ask me to collaborate with you. I would be honored. Until then, let's fight and have fun. Paco is a Doctor of interstellar environmental psychology, expert in Cybernetics and an enemy agent. I think this pretty much settles it.

All true, Roymond. But you forgot former World President and current Galactic Emperor!

Well, I am in. Like most of my tunes, I like some of it and dislike other parts of it. I am excited to hear what Carlo has and hope that he doesn't completely embarrass me. Woo!

I'm in. End of the adventure. Until Saturday morning I could not get anything (after 2 days of searching obsessively). Finally I'm fine with my performance. Good luck, Paco. Sure you have uploaded a great song.

I forget, (because you don't post instructions as if there are people that have never heard of Nur Ein) is the final vote for NE participants only?
If so or if not, where do they get sent to? (because you don't post instructions as if there are people that have never heard of Nur Ein)
