'Ello lads, first time competing! Enjoying all your songs so far. State Shirt's track especially; digging that grunge pop-rock style and heavy outro something fierce.

When did you send it? I didn't see it in the inbox, and I don't see it so far in a quick scan of the junk folder.

Strange. No sign of it anywhere that I can see. Send it again. This has happened once or twice recently, maybe something is up, but I have very little insight into the inner workings of the fightmaster email system. I usually run a script that downloads all the messages from its inbox that have mp3 attachments, then do a quick double check of that against the inbox via Web mail. I have no idea about how the auto response works, or the junk mail filtering, etc. I do see that a ton of junk mail goes into the mailbox, most of which gets filtered into the junk mailbox somehow. Now everybody knows as much about it as I do! :)

Lunkhead: I think the autoresponder fires off whether or not it ended up in the spam filter. Unfortunately Dreamhost's spam filter is garbage (which is why I host my own email on a LiNode instance instead).

Digging the harmonies on the Tuners Union song. It may very well snag my vote!

Good new year's fight y'all. :)

Fearless Love reviews:

Kraken Lives - live lofi, cool. Two voices works well. Tough to catch all the lyrics. Love the fish-eye video too.
Tuners Union - boy, really enjoyed this. Harmonies are great. The pre-chorus is very Pink Floyd. Love it, left me wanting 2 more minutes.
Edge Street Boyz - Umm, I was with you until the chorus? Loop is cool but maybe play around with it musically some more or add some other instrument bits or drops. Final dragon/dinosaur scream scores bonus points.
iveg - catchy tune, I like how you worked "adrenaline" through the song.
Toby Roktot - the driving acoustic sounds good. I didn't get the falsetto part - does it represent a girl singing to a guy? The "fear there's love in your touch" is an interesting take on the fight title.
Pigfarmer Jr. - this reminds of some Subpop grunge stuff like Mudhoney maybe? I like the "slow and steady for the win" line. Cool guitar solo.
State Shirt - very nice tune. The warbling got to me after a while but overall nice song, nice performance. The emo ending was interesting and unexpected.
Charles and Pierre Tienne - catchy music. Nice madness to the vocal performance. The last minute needs to go.

I only ever listened to the State Shirt song (and therefore did not vote), but I really liked it.

Late. Sorry. I been busy and haven't listened to anything yet.

First and foremost, the cover art makes me chuckle. Thanks, Jerk.

I will preface this by saying that I am listening to these songs on shitty earbuds in a hotel room, so any comments I make on mixes please just disregard.

Charles and Pierre Etienne
This is really fun, even though I didn't get a shout. But I kid. The mix seems way off, but like I said above these earbuds are complete garbage. It seems really bass-y. Structurally and musically though, this is seriously fantastic. Damn. I love this.

EDGE STREET BOYZ
Lots of plosives. These are fixable.. google "pop screens", they will help immensely. Wh... what the hell is the chorus? Is this it? This went from decent to shit real quick. Don't break the fourth wall unless you are sure you're doing it right.

iveg
Vocals sound buried, but see above. My headphones suck. Vocal melody/harmony sounds pretty good, especially on "fearless". Not a life-changer, but I like it.

The Kraken Lives
I am not sure if this is children. Please let me know the ages of the performers and I can give appropriate feedback.

Pigfarmer Jr
I am reminded of They Might Be Giants, I don't know why, but that's awesome. I love this. At about 1:50, I want to hear a real serious pick up generally/etc. The beginning of this leaves me wanting more, but it never gives it to me. A musical tease, if you will.

Yeah man, these vocals are awesome.

State Shirt
Here's what I like about this:
It's taunting. It says "Hey you like this? Tough, you don't get any more." Holy shit, that sickly tone/effect you get out of the electric during the intro is awesome. What is your effect chain like at 1:15?
It doesn't go where I think it will, but goes where it should.
Elec guitar is awesome. The tone and the effect is awesome. It sounds natural and surreal at the same time, which is really great.
Here's what I don't like:
At 2:58, I don't like it. It's too scream-for-the-sake-of-scream, and it becomes a little out of my scene. It gets that way before that time, too.
In conclusion:
Dude, PM me if you want to collab on something. I like your style.

toby roktot
Toby, I don't like the falsetto. I like the rest of it, because the rhythm on the acoustic is awesome.. But I don't like the falsetto.

Tuners Union
I am not in love with these vocals. I was holding back, and I really dislike the sound that results. And the mix sucks, in my opinion. It's just muddy, I guess.
But I really, really love 0:49. For the record, that is an eBow and a glass slide on a Fender with some other crud. This is one of those "this is why I make music" moments.

Yah I went back and forth on how screamy to get, and I was feeling pretty screamy that day :o

Thanks dood. It's a combination of Strymon BigSky and Deco.
