So in college I knew this one guy who released music under the name GyP, and he did a lot of live shows where he'd just sort of bang away at a keyboard while muttering lyrics and having a bunch of TVs showing weird old movies. One of his better songs was called Praying Mantis. Now I'm trying to find any evidence whatsoever that this wasn't just an extended fever dream.

I think I have his CD around here somewhere...

Back in the early 90s Zoom DJ'ed the wedding reception for a friend, and the first song he played was Don Dixon's "Praying Mantis". He meant well, it was all done in good fun, but it was still (arguably) a little tacky. On the other hand, it was memorable (I guess it's the only thing I remember about that wedding) and here it is 25 years later and that couple is still very happily married, so no harm no foul.

We'd capture praying mantis in VT when I was a kid and just stare at them. Totally creepy, yet lovable creatures. Also my favourite musical sidekick, on Space Ghost.

So glad I'm not the only person who remembers the Don Dixon song.

I think you still owe me a song. Maybe this one will make us even. I'll have to hear it first.

Glad you are making music again!

The FAQ says "128kbps is preferred."

http://www.songfight.org/faq.html#how_to_enter

Interpret that as you see fit. When I see mp3s come in that are >10MB I roll my eyes, but so far that's it. :)
