Prince it up! We haven't had a commemorative cover fight yet due to folks being busy with other stuff, like Nur Ein, so, we're overdo for folks paying tribute to Prince around here.

I don't have blue blood (not related to Nur Ein Rd3 thread though that is what I just read) so veered away from royalty-imitation in my search 4 U. I do, however, have two very different entries, (and a penchant for commas and parentheses): the first was just too easy because I just made a folk waltz about my life (long-time-currently) but then read this comment from 'Nur Ein XI Round 4' (Million Watts):
Chumpy wrote: Solo Frijoles: I love how you rework the song title to make it fit it into a killer chorus hook. For me, the primary challenge of Song Fight is to do something good with the arbitrary and often lame title you're given, and I'm often frustrated that many competitors weakly incorporate the title once somewhere into the song and call it a day.
... so decided to attempt blues with an actual moulding of the title into the crux of the song.
I believe submitting two is frowned upon :( what shall I do?!

Pick your favourite or bring in a collaborator for one of them. I can probably add some weird colour, should that be of interest.

I have no idea if it's frowned upon, but personally I'd welcome it! The more the merrier, surely. :)

There is this great song that touches on this subject by Frankie Big Face called Por Favor that I'm reminded of every time this comes up, but I'm guilty of this myself. Bring on the frowns I say!

If you're Looking 4 a collaborator, folk waltzes are kinda my thing, accordion to multiple sources...

Is there any time for you to do something? To give away the other the second track idea - it's a highway blues about Lookin 4 ULP, a futuristic nod to as unleaded petrol becomes more scarce due to "yuppies with their Teslas and diesel limosines" ... and whining how it ain't as easy as it used to be. Or you want to do a 3way with Mi-Som?! Guess I need send you both the rough tracks. Will do this afternoon

I will be adding a sludgy, folky song to the mix. I don't expect to win, but I like the song and am glad to be entering a songfight after several years of quiet.

I guarantee you Prince would not like my song, but hey I aim for a specific demographic (still haven't found which one).

Yep, in, 15 minutes past the deadline but hopefully the Gods of this Fight of Song will look down kindly on the computer malfunctions that delayed me. All the good stuff by Pepper Jane, all the random, loose, weird stuff by me. Guest spoken word section by the very dead Allan Kaprow. Check out the (awfully named by me) Pepper John when the tracks descend!

Oh my gosh spoken word, j$?? I thought I was joking X-D

Considering my report cards used to read: "does not play well with others", I'm stoked to have two group efforts in! And on that note, will indeed wait until fight posting to listen!

Thanks lads, for doing the deadline bit, I'm not good that part!
