Just spent two hours writing and recording. I might actually be in one of these things.

Is there any interest in me doing a Listening Party for Song Fights? I'm getting the hang of them after 8 weeks of Nur Ein.

Well, I would have liked to have added bass and some kind of pad to mine, but time's running out, so you get what you get. "Perfect" is the enemy of "done" or something. See y'all in the ring!

I'll be in Tulsa the rest of the week for another Softball tourney (My daughter is a brick behind the plate.) I might listen in if there was one, but I doubt I could make them regularly. I think not knowing when they'll be posted (due to obviously busy schedules and the fixing of entrants mess ups) makes it harder to schedule.BoffoYux wrote:Is there any interest in me doing a Listening Party for Song Fights? Re: Hold your breath (Change Is Coming prefight)
Cool I wrote most of mine in about 15min (starting 90min before it was due - I didn't think I was going to do this challenge) but then forgot a lot of it, since I wrote it while making jam on toast and pigletting out on choc buttons after bible study like there was no tomorrow.Pigfarmer Jr wrote:Just spent two hours writing and recording. Maybe there is no tomorrow but I have this gentle folk g&g offering which, if it so pleases the court aka Fightmaster to include it after it was 10min late, is a short and hopefully sweet mmm chocolate ...
Everything is about perspective.

I think you're good. 959 PDT is like 25 minutes from now. Congratz on getting in. Judging from my recent participation, it's a big deal.PepperJane wrote:... so pleases the court aka Fightmaster to include it after it was 10min late, is a short and hopefully sweet mmm chocolate ...

The Jerks are in with nearly 5 minutes to spare. Should have added that bridge we kept talking about.Fightmaster wrote:Subject: Song Fight Has Received Your Message

In a few minutes late 'cos I was struggling with a lead guitar tone (and still don't think it's particularly pleasing on the ear). I also got carried away quadruple-tracking the three-part harmony. Sozzz.

Ish ... it's as good as dead, apart from a good day (as is my guitar playing) - it would be wise to hear the output before getting too excited about possibilities

Re: Hold your breath (Change Is Coming prefight)
I originally thought this was due on Thursday. I just double checked on Monday night and realized it was due the next day. So my mix suffers from a bit of rush. I'll take my beatings.
I also managed to screw up entering the song, like twice.
Not my best work, but it still should rock some of you a bit.

15 mins? Good grief, in 15 mins I might have just about whittled down the options for the intro to half a dozen possibilities.PepperJane wrote:I wrote most of mine in about 15min

Re: Hold your breath (Change Is Coming prefight)
I submitted mine last night, about 14 hours before the deadline. But it was incomplete. So today I finished it, and sent in the finished version, close to 12 hours late. I figured it was at least worth asking.
One version was on time, but incomplete and somewhat difficult to listen to.
One version was late, but but more fleshed out, better mixed, and mastered at a level more likely to be in keeping with the competition.
It's up to the Fightmaster which version of my song goes up. Whichever one makes it, I'll post the other independently for comparison, should anyone be interested.

I'm interested, post them both to soundcloud (or wherever) I'd be curious if I could really hear the difference.Generic wrote: ... I'll post the other independently for comparison, should anyone be interested.

Re: Hold your breath (Change Is Coming prefight)
I'll be happy to oblige, Chumpy. I'm sure you'll hear a difference between the two of them, though perhaps not all of the specific individual differences. I'm at work right now, but I'll upload to SoundCloud this evening. For the record, the late-but-more-complete version is the one that went up.

Re: Hold your breath (Change Is Coming prefight)
I thought it went without saying that it doesn't mean it'll be any good! (which likely reads: it may just be so standard uninteresting acoustic folk).GravityJohnson wrote:15 mins? I just relaxed into it and let be what was, and what came forth was a little bit of my soul blah blah ... that's just how it happens sometimes (when it's not being forced). No Caesarean required.
