Berkeley Social Scene

16:36? Hm... was my late Oh My Soul entry an inspiration for that monstrous length? :p If so, I'm quite impressed given the short amount of time you had... Anyway. Sound like a pretty standard, but solid jam. I like the guitars. Gets a bit boring after a while though. Such a waste of recording time! Bad decision. I will repeal and replace this song! Sad!

Caravan Ray

Bounces along pleasantly. Fun song. Plus some golden lyrics there. It does seem like you are taking the piss here. Watch out for Twitter rants. Vote.

Dark Side of the Son

After an amazing intro, really nice, one of the best intros, in fact, this gets boring soon. Bad! Get smart and MAKE THE DARK SIDE OF THE SON DARK AGAIN!

Dubbha Minor

1:23 of FAKE MUSIC! You did a very bad job here, very dumb. Unlike me, my IQ is one of the highest, and you all know it, so go hide in your safe spaces while I drink your liberal tears!... Those tears do look kind of yellow. FAKE TEARS?

James Owens

This so-called musician offers nothing but 2:46 of boredom! That's what I call a bad deal. I will terminate that deal in order to keep "evil" out of Song Fight! MAKE SONG FIGHT GREAT AGAIN!

Paco del Stinko

What, no Paco here? Disappointing! Failing Paco del Stinko, who keeps losing fans, did not post a song this week. NO PACO SONG! Sad.

Toby Roktot

I LIKE YOUR USE OF CAPS LOCK IN THE LYRIC THREAD, IT REMINDS ME OF SOMEONE. Otherwise, nice one, reminds me a bit of Alan Parsons Project. Vote.

WreckdoM

I like theremin. It was invented by a Russian guy, one of the best Russian guys. I like the lyrics, too. Though I myself prefer being peed upon, especially if it's Russian pee. You should try it. Russian hooker sitting on top of you relieving herself while playing the theremin. Nice!

Seems like I'll have to play the banjo on next week's title. I wanna be cool too. 8-)

BTW, Caravan Ray, I'm really impressed at how realistic your sampled banjo sounds :)

Now, enough being serious. I wonder who's gonna win this week's fight, considering it was rigged from the beginning by Crooked Lunkhead! Such a terrible, terrible mess SF is in. We have to get smart and MSFGA!
Yes, I'm repeating myself. That's just a rhetoric device. I'm good at rhetorics, you know, because I'm smart.

You can say many things about Trump, but you can't say he isn't progressive. He propelled America straight into the 26th century, as portrayed by Mike Judge.

Howdy Songfighters, long time, no hear. WreckdoMelle has been very busy, but found a teeny bit of time to submit some reviews.

Dubbha Minor - Vox are buried in the mix and the flute is violently piercing. I don't feel qualified to comment much more about this one as freestyle isn't my thing.

Caravan Ray - Quit your day-job and move to Austin Ray! Well, er, don't, we're full and the idea that ATX is a musician's town is utter BS - but I digress! This is one damn catchy tune. Solid composition, good mix, I love the instrumentation, and you have a really good voice. Kudos for the clever use of one of my favorite words of the last few months, "Schadenfreude".

toby roktot - You have something pretty decent going on here. While I admit I wasn't overly moved, I do like the chords in the verse (I'm bad with music theory, but your very relaxing voice on top of the chord does something cool there) and the little bells at the end were quite charming. The mix is slightly harsh - I do most of my listening on my tinny laptop speakers so it's partially my own fault.

James Owens - Hybrid of very early Residents/sci-fi soundtrack with lounge-singer vox, lightly hinting of David Bowie. Weird but cool.

Dark Side of the Son - Melancholy. Intriguing array of sounds (thunder = good). I was kind of sad after listening - the guy in the song seems so alienated.

WreckdoM - I cannot be impartial to WreckdoM - not everyone gets the chance to join their favorite band, which I did with the song "Crush" seven years ago. It's been quite a long time since I collaborated with the guys and this song was very enjoyable to create - let it be known this all went down in a single day and it was one of those songs that writes itself. Raw WreckdoM, baby.

Berkeley Social Scene - Too long. Aside from that, chicka chicka! - nice dirty gritty abuse of wah (which is the only way to approach wah, in my book). The tortured vocals and grungy rhythm guitar/bass give this a bit of the punk rock feel that is appropriate for the lyrical commentary. That said, the groove seemed all the time like it wanted to come forth but was buried under a lot of fuzz and embellishments in the other instrumentation and the wild ranting vox, so this didn't really take off with me at all.

Good job everyone! You did such a better job than all the other acts that didn't submit a song this round.
