Here's an idea, kids (that I'm not going to use).

Write a song to yourself with the title I Used to Know You Better.

I know, right?

I have my base track (with my very first ever bass line), our new mic set up for recording some lyrics today (which I don’t have yet) and a copy of Logic X for Dummies from the library (which nobody else has ever read, by the looks of it), so get ready!

RECORDING WITH A REAL MICROPHONE IS GREAT!

(Lads is gender neutral, btw. So say the Irish.)

I agree. This is my first chance to try out my new AT2035, and I'm loving it. What a sweet mic.

I'm also loving the optional synth arpeggio challenge, using the plugin that comes with Reaper. I've never tried arpeggiation before. MIDI is so cool.

We got ourselves a Shure SM57. My previous fights have been recorded using a Sony lapel lavalier mic. To say it's a step up is an understatement.

You can't go wrong with a Shure SM57, especially if you want something for stage use as well.

ok, I'm in with an over-the-top protest song, ahead of the deadline, even! This would almost certainly have been just acoustic G&G if I was left to my own devices, but the optional challenge inspired me to download an arpeggiator and play around with it, and it was so much fun! I also tried adding some vocoder, despite constantly bitching about other people doing it in their songs :) (It's cool and tasteful when I do it ;))

I have a vocoder and arpeggiator on the keyboard I play live, but I'm pretty sure I've never actually used them for anything aside from occasionally dicking around if I have spare time before practice. So it was cool to use those tools for what I think is the first time. I used VSTs instead of the keyboard for this one, though (the built-in ReaVocode for the vocoder, arp!0 for the arpeggiator).

Hi all, I'm pretty happy with what I came up with this time. Turns out spending more than 5 hours on writing and recording a song does wonders.

Against my better judgement I am submitting as Future Boy once again. And incredibly I have used Smalltown Mike's idea without having read it first. I'm sorry the song is depressing.
