Congrats!

Also I've now consistently doubled my votes fight over fight. Next song I write will be a close fight, and after that I'll be unstoppable!

Congrats Amby!

Didn't manage to get reviews written this time but I really loved that song. Also thought Ken and Glenn's songs were really great. Good fight!

Caravan Ray:
I like everything about this except the way that the vocals sound.
Well. You nailed that.

I agree. For 2 years I have been struggling with this "shoebox" sound.

I moved house 2 years ago and I thought that was the problem. But I now recall I also got a new mic. A "better" mic. I now think the problem is my new mic is too good - and it picks up stuff my old one didn't.

Our rooms are super boxy and there's not much we can do about it at this point, so we bought one of those ungainly Marantz vocal shields to mount on our mic stands, and it makes a huge difference as far as room noise and reverb is concerned, so something like that might be useful if your room is crap for sound.
Makes sense to me. I just ordered something similar today. Let's hope it works.

Question just because I'm curious: do you deliberately or unconsciously drop your accent when you sing? (I only ask that because it's something I probably care about to a fault in my own songs.)
Ah!! I love this conversation!!

No. I don't deliberately change my accent. I don't think I ever have...there have been a few "glass/arse/Newcastle" type moments - but I don't think I have ever degraded myself to mispronounce things. (well....on the "Sleeper" CD I released in 2009 there is a song called "Under the Horse" - and my oldest friend who is on the cover art did say to me "are you singing "under the haaarse"!?!? You sound like a Seppo")

Generally I just look at my *WWMJ,TR&PKD bracelet and decide.

*(What would Mick Jagger, Tim Rogers and Paul Kelly do)
