There's a good chance I won't get anything done for this fight, but if I do, it's probably going to be a Faith/Primary-era Cure-esque track about 'those people' who don't turn on their cameras on a video call.

Forever is a long time, and you'll spend most of it without me...

It me
Why would you ever let someone look at you at work if you weren’t absolutely required to do so? Part of the benefits of working from home IMO = spending a boring conference call in my pajamas with my feet up, gnawing on a block of cheese that’s still in the wrapper

I often *do* turn the camera on but I sit right by a bay window so I'm like a silhouette in one of those security system commercials.

I turn the camera on in the hope that other people will also turn their cameras on and maybe I'll get to see another human face that day.

It's only forever, not long at all...

Well today I had a conference call I thought would be about half an hour long and it ended up being nearly two hours and my coworker had his video on, which enabled me to see a human face sighing heavily, grimacing, and at one point burying his face in his hands and rubbing his eyes because he was so tired of me and my other colleague being annoying idiots. Very motivating and good seeing other humans, yes.
Anyway, I’m currently eating cheese straight out of the wrapper as a consolation prize for being super behind on my work now. It’s applewood smoked Gouda.

Re: the optional challenge, I heard this song and thought about how few lyrics it had. I find it impressive when songs are like that but still really enjoyable. Not that I need a raft of lyrics for me to like a song, but, I think it takes skill to use few lyrics and still have a song be engaging the whole time.
This is another song in that vein that I love:

I generally find minimal lyrics difficult but my first solo win on SF (We Visited a Forest Full of Graves) used four repeating lines, so I'm keen to have another go. I have a lyrical idea, hopefully I can break out of my creative rut and figure out some music to accompany it...
Also the mention of Lavender Diamond reminds me that i used to be really into their song "Open Your Heart". Time for a little nostalgia I think.

minimal lyrics is definitely up my alley. maybe it's time to finally do another songfight song.

It's been a while so I thought I would have another, and this is what it is all about:
- it's the sound of me getting pissed off with my neighbours
- it's the sound of me listening to far too much (or not enough) Jimmy Urine
- it's the sound of me impulse buying the new CA2600 VST plugin
- it's the sound of me arsing about with different tempos in an attempt to make it more interesting

To demonstrate that I apparently have no control over my output, I attempted to write a song in the style of The National and ended up with a stompy hoedown.

Sometimes it so happens that the song spawned is not the song you wanted to write, yet there it is, and time has nearly run out so you polish and hone and chip away, or simply add more distortion to cover the imperfections, what have you. I didn't like the amp sounds, I didn't care for the vox, I wasn't enamored with the lyrics but as it wobbled around on my sonic potter's wheel and the rough edges came off, it grew on me, sort of like a downy peach fuzz.

I feel you. This week was supposed to be up-beat whiney punk, but took a hard turn into metal.
