I've just submitted. I've spent so many hours of recording and mixing since last saturday, starting with a melody I dreamt. I did so many improvements I must have heard it hundreds of times. Now I am at a point where I can't tell anymore if it really gets any better by changing something. So I submitted to get my head free.

Hello and welcome! It's actually not required to post here to be able to be in the fight. It's just a nice-to-have.

(If you have a link to the page where it says it's required to post here, let me know what it is and I'll go fix it.)

I'm in with verses in 4/4 and chorus in 3/4. Since I missed out on the shoegaze fight, I figured I'd try to make up for it here, but the end result doesn't sound entirely shoegazey.

I'm in after an almost 9 year songfight hiatus!! I went for a Kurtis Blow/Rapper's Delight old school disco/rap vibe with the song, with a sort of plot playing out through the intro/interlude/outro.

In with optional challenge. Was almost going to pass but I wasn't ready to break my streak so I sat down this afternoon to get to work and 4 hours later here we are. That includes ear breaks to prevent fatigue - knowing when to rest is a skill I'm working on. I didn't even have time to get so submersed in it I couldn't hear it anymore as Heine was describing - yes I have just sent something to get my head free as well, after days and days of moving sliders just so, only to make mixing mistakes. Just pounding it out and sending off something that sounded halfway decent was a new approach. I usually dwell in it and get my ears all tired out. :D :D :D

I'm in with the challenge. That one put a monkey wrench in my usual method of relying on the sticky grid lines in Reaper. I'm sure there's an easy way to do multiple time signatures in the DAW, but I sure didn't take the time to learn it. I recorded my whole backing track and then realized I hadn't made it long enough, so it ends up sounding like Mr. Rogers "Won't You be My Neighbor" at the end. Looking forward to hearing the entries and new players.

I tried out overlaying 3/4 and 4/4 rhythms and seem to have ended up in the 80's at the lower end of the FM dial. I have submitted.

I didn’t do the optional challenge but I think ive done this before in reaper by creating a midi beat while the piano roll is set to straight notes then creating a second beat when it’s set to triplets. They stay in the same place even if you change the midi grid settings.

In Reaper you can right-click at the top (where the bar numbers are) and add a "tempo / time signature change marker" or something like that, didn't check the wording but it should be obvious.

Night Sky has been working on something in 11/4 with different subdivisions in different measures, and it's been a bit of a struggle. I'm going to keep working on it in the hopes that I can get it in late, but not too late.
Night Sky is Sally on lyrics, Steve on drums, and Matt on the other stuff

Thanks. DAWs are one of those parts of my life where I either avoid learning a simple trick and spend hours manually doing it, or I spend hours trying to learn a tool when I could have done it manually in a few seconds. I guess wisdom is knowing when to do which.
